Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I scored a 35 on my ACT math test seven years ago (I only took it once). I am qualified to teach the 4 classes covered by the test: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. As a current high school teacher, I often review for the ACT with my students.

Algebra 1

I teach Algebra 1. I completed a mathematics education major at Washington University in St. Louis which included 35 credits of math courses and 33 credits of education courses.

Algebra 2

I took Algebra 2 in 9th grade, but I currently teach the class to high school students. I completed a mathematics education major at Washington University in St. Louis which included 35 credits of math courses, including several advanced algebra courses, and 33 credits of education courses.

Calculus

I scored a 5 on my Calculus AB and Calculus BC tests in my junior year of high school (7 years ago). I have taken the AP Calculus teaching course and am teaching non-AP calculus this year.

Finance

I took AP Economics in high school. I currently teach Math of Finance to high school students. I completed a mathematics education major at Washington University in St. Louis which included 35 credits of math courses, including several advanced algebra courses, and 33 credits of education courses.

Geometry

I took geometry in 8th grade, but I currently teach geometry to high school students. As a current teacher, I have to keep up with all the changing standards, so I can help with the old and the new class topics.

Logic

I earned a high A on my mathematical logic class at Washington University in St. Louis. Teaching this subject is teaching a way of thinking. Logic is used every day to make intelligent decisions. I am also teaching logic in my geometry class.

Precalculus

I majored in mathematics education at Washington University in St. Louis. I am teaching a Calculus class with Precalculus topics.

SAT Math

I scored an 800 on my SAT math test seven years ago (I only took it once). I am qualified to teach the 4 classes covered by the test: Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry. As a current high school teacher, I often review for college entrance exams with my students.

Statistics

I scored a 5 on my AP Statistics test in my senior year of high school (6 years ago). I am qualified to teach statistics, including AP Statistics.

Trigonometry

I am qualified to teach Trigonometry. As a current high school teacher, I teach Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Math of Finance, Calculus and ACT Prep, teaching my students Trigonometry basics and preparing them to take the course in the next few years.
