Monmouth College (English)
I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in English from Monmouth College in Illinois in 2014. My final GPA was 3.71, and I was one of only three students in my graduating class to complete Monmouth's exclusive and demanding Honor's Program. I also received the Samuel S. Thompson award for the highest quality paper in Humanities, and my work on Bilingual Indian poetry has been published in an international undergraduate research journal.
I worked for a year as a full-time tutor at Webster High School with City Year, an Americorps program, creating unique lesson plans in algebra and English for a group of struggling students. I have experience leading both large and individual tutoring sessions, and I have extensive training in data-driven teaching methods, including differentiated instruction, developed by researchers at Johns Hopkins University.
In college, I peer-reviewed and tutored others on essay writing. I also worked as a student editor of a research journal and the college newspaper.
But most of all, I want to be a tutor because I've seen how a proper education can lead to a better life and a better community.
ACT Score: 32

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a three-time Varsity Letterman in football. I was the team MVP my junior year in High School as well as second-team all-conference as a running back and a linebacker. I have extensive experience as a coach, including taking and passing a college course in coaching.
My day-job is as a recruiter for a local non-profit agency. I give public presentation to groups ranging between five and fifty people at least three times a month. I am also involved with Toastmasters, an international organization with a mission to develop and improve public speakers.
