About C. Michael

The key to learning is not just the subject matter but in understanding and thinking in a way that allows you to succeed whether its in your course or exams or in achieving your personal and educational goals. That what I do. I can take a subject of any variety and make it fun and interesting in a way that gives you a better chance of success.

I'm skilled and educated in most subjects and with a 40 year international business, engineering, and teaching career, I can provide experience-based teaching that combines traditional learning and support with real-world applications that relate to the subject at hand. I'm not like other tutors. I don't hammer the rules into your brain or do homework for people. I teach them how to think, enjoy, and grow from the journey of learning.

I was a National Merit Scholar with a near-perfect score. I know how the test works and how a student can achieve the best score.

I've practiced engineering all over the world for over years; designing products, solving problems and making the world a better place through techology. I'm a Professional Engineer and a member of Engineers Without Borders.

I have an MBA in Business Management. I was an adjunct professor at Letourneau University teaching Business Ethics. During my career I have started up numerous successful corporations and subsidaries. I was European Managing Director of a large industrial products corporation during the 1990's. My masters thesis was on financial futures commodity trading. My practical background in finance, marketing, sales, and engineering is excellent.

I have also been a practicing Mechanical Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer for over 30 years. I introduced CAD design, finite element analysis, and computer modeling to numerous corportations. I have worked or directed teams of engineers in major product and project designs all over the world. I was elected the most outstanding Mechanical Engineering Student of my graduating class from SMU School of Engineering. I am currently an active member of Engineers Without Borders.

I've written four novels, countless short stories, and numerous technical articles. I understand the mechanics of writing in a clear and interesting fashion that keeps the reader engaged.

I've grown through the world of marketing my whole career. After all, a great idea is only as good as the response you receive from the marketplace. I have a knack for unique, creative approaches with a good understanding of the basics that seems to work when marketing and selling both new and existing products, or even, when faced with a crisis.

History repeats itself. Almost everything we see happening today has happened in the past. In America whether it's in business, politics, social issues, or technology we can find examples in the past that can educate us for the future. That's what make history interesting, fun, and so very important. That's how I approach my teaching of history.

I you want to learn, succeed and most of all, enjoy the learning experience I'm the one to help you learn how to achieve the results you desire. It doesn't matter what your background, intelligence, or other circumstances may be. It only matters that you wish to grow and succeed from the learning experience. It's not rocket science. It's about making achieving your goals.
The key to learning is not just the subject matter but in understanding and thinking in a way that allows you to succeed whether its in your course or exams or in achieving your personal and educational goals. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

We study history, not only to learn what happened before, but because it gives us insight into what will happen next. Almost everything that has happened will recreate itself in a different form and, if we study what happened, we are better prepared to not make the same mistakes and duplicate the previous successes.
Whether it be wars, politics, business, technology, social issues, disasters, and even sports, we can learn and grow from a better understanding of our past.

I make it interesting, fun and exciting to learn from the history of our great country. I share stories and anecdotes from past times to add dimension to our history and make it easier to remember and apply to our daily live.

Business

I have an MBA in Business Management. I was an adjunct professor at Letourneau University teaching Business Ethics. During my career I have started up numerous successful corporations and subsidaries. I was European Managing Director of a large industrial products corporation during the 1990's. My masters thesis was on financial futures commodity trading. My practical background in finance, marketing, sales, and engineering is excellent.

Marketing

I have developed and introduced over 20 new products to the industrial and consumer markets with good success through both traditional and creative new marketing techniques. I trained under a Vice President of Marketing for Bozzel & Jacobs in Dallas and a Vice President of Trammel Crow in Dallas. I have taught business marketing and ethics as an adjunct Professor. I know all the principles of successful marketing in it's various forms.

Mechanical Engineering

I have been a practicing Mechanical Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer for over 30 years.

Reading

I have a university bachelors degree and a masters degree and have taught as an adjunct professor at a university in Dallas. It would not be an exaggeration to admit that I have read over 10,000 books in my life as well as countless short stories, plays, and technical articles. I also write and have completed four novels.

Reading can be fun and entertaining as well as a great way to learn new things. I like to teach reading in a way that makes people interested in the material and able to understand the subject or stories in a way that is fun.

Writing

Writing is an art form that is meant to inform, educate, and entertain the reader. The right technical skills of word usage, format, and punctuation are necessary and I can teach those well having written four novels of my own and countless short stories along with many serious technical papers. But, I also teach the technique to engage the reader so they are interested in the topic or story and encouraged to read further.

My goal is to teach the technical fundamentals of good writing combined with the art form that results in really good writers that can share their stories or information in an interesting and absorbing fashion. Let's learn how to write!
