About Amanda

My students succeed! I’ve been tutoring for nearly 15 years. I have a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Special Education, English, and Sociology. I love teaching students that hate school and have the most experience in special education K-12 and GED test prep. I had 2 students, who happen to be in special education, this summer who read sentences for the first time on their second day with me. Can’t wait to help you reach your goals!

I personally jumped 5 points on my ACT math exam. I’ve had several students with similar success.

English was my hardest subject in school, but because I had great teachers my weakness became my strength. I know what it takes to go from the bottom to the top.

GED prep is one of my favorite things to teach, and I have received the most positive feedback from my GED students.

Students and families, who have special needs, are my heart’s passion. I’ve had kids, who have never been able to learn how to read, orally read with good comprehension skills. I’ve had kids, who were never able to spell, write paragraphs independently. I’ve had kids, who were told that telling time was an impossible task, tell time independently. Achieving goals is possible, despite any label “the system” has given; it simply takes patience and a creative solutions.

I am creative and think outside of the box. If normal classrooms aren’t working for you, normal approaches outside the classroom are going to leave you frustrated! I’ll do whatever it takes to make you achieve your goals, and hopefully it’ll be so crazy it’ll work faster than you ever imagined!
