Harding University (Early Childhood Ed)
Hello! My name is Kevin. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education from Harding University. For a young person, I have a rich experience working with young people of all ages in a variety of capacities. I've had experience tutoring, student teaching, and I currently work full time with 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders in a Child Development Center. It is my belief that finding a joy for reading can unlock a child's imagination and potential. The key is finding the book that unlocks the door.
In my spare time, I am an avid sports fan, a veracious reader, and a novice cook. My wife and I are new to the Tulsa area but love exploring and travel. We truly learn something new everyday. Finding the joy in learning is something we often have to work at. I hope to equip students with the tools it takes to be a life long learner.
While attending Harding University, I was able to learn at the feet of some renowned biblical scholars despite not choosing this as my major. Additionally, I have spent multiple summers with churches interning with their youth ministries. As for reading and grammar, improving one has a direct correlation to improving the other. I love words and how they flow together to create thought, story and emotion.
Coming from Arkansas, I acquired a four-year degree built around using Common Core on a daily basis through lesson planning and implementing those plans.
I have worked with children of all ages through tutoring, day care, after-school care, student teaching, etc. Many teachers may come highly qualified but specialize in one grade or subject area. Throughout my brief experience as a 23 year old, I have worked across the board in terms of subject area and age range giving me a unique perspective.
I truly love to see those light bulb moments, but I love it even more when I see young people develop a passion and self-direction when it comes to learning and reading. If you have any interest in letting me help your child take the next step in their learning, please feel free to contact me and develop a schedule that will work for you, me, and your child. Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I amassed 26 undergraduate hours in Biblical studies whilst obtaining my degree in Early Childhood. Additionally, I completed three youth ministry internships and have done much preaching and teaching in church settings.
