Western Governor's University (Elementary Ed)
Hi there! My name is Rachelle, and I'd love to meet you! I'm a 22 year old military wife working on finishing up my Elementary/Special Education degree. My loves include baking, ceramic art, and my family (which consists of my husband and 4 animals). I have wanted to be a teacher since I was 6 years old and told my teacher that I wanted to be one so that I could "boss kids around" just like she did.
I love working with kids of all ages, and teaching is definitely my passion. Since I'm not certified just yet, I thought tutoring might be a good way to "get my feet wet" as it were. I have tutored on an informal basis over the years, mostly with peers struggling with certain subjects. I'm very good at breaking things down and finding creative ways to teach ideas and concepts. My strongest points are in English, grammar, writing, and reading, but at an elementary level I can tutor just about any subject.
Please feel free to contact me if you think I might be a good match for your child or if you have any questions for me! Hi there! My name is Rachelle, and I'd love to meet you! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Growing up in a Baptist church and being a pastor's daughter, the Bible is something that has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been in camps, clubs, and study groups for most of my life. I am very good with memorization skills as well as interpretation and application.
I am less than a year away from graduation with an Elementary Education degree. I have worked in after school programs before, as well as having volunteered in local elementary schools for several years. I am comfortable with a great majority of elementary subject matter, and anything that I do not know, I am willing to learn. My greatest strengths are in English, grammar, reading, and writing.
I have quite a bit of experience in public speaking. In middle and high school, I was a part of student government; the positions that I held often required me to write speeches and speak in front of my peers and other audiences. When I got to college, I took a class on public speaking as a requirement of my major - I did very well in that class. I am very comfortable speaking in front of people as well as preparing material for speeches and other public speaking.
I am a very organized person in general and have always had to work very hard to get good grades and learn things well. This has led to my developing many good study skills and an ability to find ways to retain information. I love using visual aids mostly (notes, notecards, pictures, etc.) and I am comfortable helping students develop their own method of studying.
