Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I scored a 25 on my ACT English portion. I have also completed my MBA which included writing many papers that were grammatically correct. I also have to write reports each week for work.

ACT Science

I have a petroleum engineering degree. I scored a 30 on my ACT test in science. I have good reasoning skills to teach to others.

Algebra 1

I took Algebra 1 in 8th grade. I had a horrible teacher and really struggled in the class. I soon began to realize that I had to teach myself the math. After realizing the difference that it made when I actually taught myself I became more motivated and ended up exceeding in the class. Algebra 1 is a foundational course for success in future math courses in high school, college as well as success in working at many jobs in the future. The student will learn problem-solving, statistics, solving equations, exponents, graphing and solving linear and quadratic functions in a coordinate plane, graphical estimation and basic function notation.

Algebra 2

I have a petroleum engineering degree with many hours in tutoring math. I have of 50 hours on wyzAnt for tutoring all math topics.

Basketball

I have played basketball since I was four years old. While in college I was a manager for the men's basketball team. I attended practice daily along with traveling with the team. The basketball team was my family while in school. Basketball is a game of fundamentals and I plan to teach those.

Business

I have five years experience in a professional role. I also have an MBA.

Calculus

I took Calculus 1 my senior year in high school. I really enjoyed the class and a sweet lady Mrs. Summerlin taught the class. I also took Calculus 1 my first year in college. To me it was a breeze. My first A in college! A little bit about calculus: Functions, limits, continuity, trigonometric functions, techniques and applications of differentiation, indefinite and definite integrals, the fundamental theorem.

Elementary Math

I have a petroleum engineering degree and I have over 50 hours of math tutoring on WyzAnt. I also have experience tutoring elementary math during high school.

Elementary Science

Geography

I scored a 100% on the test that was required by WyzAnt. I also have traveled many places in the world (UK, Russia, Indonesia). I plan to use my world travels to help educate on Geography. Geology

As a petroleum engineer I have daily encounters with geology and science behind it. The rocks and the properties of the rocks I deal with on a daily bases. I have five years experience with rocks.

Golf

I have played golf for five years and have taken many lessons from PGA pros. This will allow me to use my leanings from my lessons and teach others.

Mechanical Engineering

I have a minor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa. I also have worked as a mechanical engineer for an oil and gas company for two years

Microsoft Excel

I have a petroleum engineering degree and I use Excel on a daily basis to complete tasks required for my professional career. This includes creating spreadsheets that have thousands of lines of data. Using Excel to help understand this data has been helpful to the bottom line of the company. Using VLOOKUP and Pivot tables are just a few skills that I have for Excel.

Microsoft Word

I have a petroleum engineering degree and I use word on a daily bases to complete task required for my professional career. I have used word during my education to obtain my MBA to write many papers to help complete my masters degree. . I plan on using the lessons I learned during my professional and educational background to teach to other students.

Proofreading

I have an MBA and I am required to write many papers for work. This includes proofreading many papers, PowerPoints and contracts. I have over five years experience with proofreading.

SAT Math

I have a petroleum engineering degree and use math on a daily bases. I have over 50 hours of tutoring on WyzAnt which mostly includes tutoring for Math subjects. I also tutored math while in high school and college. I scored a 28 on my ACT for my math section. I also scored high on the SAT (I don't remember the exact score). I have taken many levels of math during college that have prepared me to tutor students on this topic.

Visual Basic

After taking a class in college on VBA I have accelerated my VBA skills. After finishing with the highest grade in the class, I now use VBA on a daily bases to help solve many engineering problems.

Volleyball

I have played volleyball since I was a little kid. I also was a referee for a few years for high school volleyball. I was an assistant coach on a club team for four years.
