Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

ACT Prep is one of the most instrumental undertakings in a student's career. The right grade means the right college, the right college means the right connections and the right career. So, without a good score on your ACT, your life will be dramatically different. My test prep students typically increase their scores by 25-50% or more. I require students to do homework and absorb the material both in one-on-one sessions as well as on their own.

ACT Science

ACT Prep is one of the most instrumental undertakings in a student's career. The right grade means the right college, the right college means the right connections and the right career. So, without a good score on your ACT, your life will be dramatically different. My test prep students typically increase their scores by 25-50% or more. I require students to do homework and absorb the material both in one-on-one sessions as well as on their own. As a perfect score Science ACT Prep Instructor, I have over 23 years experience particularly in Chemistry and Physics tutoring and teach my students the fundamentals in those areas for a core understanding in addition to test taking advice.

AFOQT

I have been teaching the AFOQT and ASVAB for the last 2 years, and the Air Force Officer Exam for the last year. I augment my AFOQT instruction with additional GRE ACT ASVAB and TOEFEL practice books. Most of the AFOQT comes from the ASVAB-- the math and verbal, science are all the same, the only major parts that differ-- block counting, rotating, and hidden figures are taught through a tutorial, and Aviation and Instrument reading I teach through the Private Pilot Test Prep.

Algebra 1

I have always had a great relationship with Mathematics and numbers. While attending the University of Tulsa I received a minor in Mathematics. I really feel obligated to help especially young people and college students achieve their best in the basic subjects, especially Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.

Algebra 2

I have always had a great relationship with Mathematics and numbers. While attending the University of Tulsa I received a minor in Mathematics. I really feel obligated to help especially young people and college students achieve their best in the basic subjects, especially Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.

American History

American History is a very important part of who we are as a people. i often say that if you do not know where you came from you do not know yourself. Of the books that I have written, one in particular touched on a combination of ancient, European and American history. As an amateur historian, I especial like regional, Oklahoma and American history as a subject and just for general knowledge: American Revolution, Civil War, Reconstruction, Old West, and 20th Century history and politics.

Anthropology

In 2010 my third book was published on the subject of ancient history genetics and the cultural anthropology of societies from around 4,000 BC to present in the Middle East and Mediterranean. I have studied under some of the worlds greatest archeologists, and developed my own theories of anthropological history especially concerning the rise of religion and the movements of ancient peoples. Though this is not my current occupation, I have always dabbled and reached the point of have a top selling book on the subject.

Arabic

Arabic was my third language growing up, the first language of my mother who was born and grew up in the Middle East. I have always had Arabic around me and spoken it with limited fluency. I have had several years of college Arabic, both written and spoken, and I speak a Levantean dialect akin to that which is spoken in Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Palestine. I have traveled in North Africa and used my Arabic there as well while I was living in Europe.

Archaeology

In the early to mid-1990's I had the pleasure to study as an elective under one of the preeminent archeologists of the Near-East in the field of pre-historic archeology. Since that time, though I never majored in archeology I have had the pleasure to write a non-fiction book last year on the subject of the rise of civilization in the Near East and Mediterranean basin and throughout Europe. A portion of that book's thesis was based on the findings of my former professor as well as genetic studies on haplogroup dissemination and the spread of ideas over a 3,000 year period.

Architecture

While attending university in Paris I had the pleasure to study French architecture from the Romanesque to the Modern period. This course of study was done sur place in and around famous structures throughout Paris and touched on Roman, Gothic, High Gothic, Neo-Classical, Baroque, Style Empire, late 1800's, Art Deco and modern architecture. Though most of my education on the subject is on the history of architecture, we also covered the basics of public architectural style and form.

Art History

While obtaining my degree in International Business Management and Marketing from the American Univ. of Paris, I followed a cultural history track for my electives which included French Cultural History, French Architecture, and Art History. Our classrooms where the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay museums in Paris. I studied in particular the French artists from 1700-1920 AD. Besides being top in my class I found it very interesting and something I still cherish.

Astronomy

Astronomy is a really fun course to take. I would encourage everyone to learn about it. From a very young boy I looked up in wonder at the stars and planets, and at one point expected to grow up to be an astronomer or astrophysicist. I still revel in the subject and the impact it has had on civilization over the last 6,000 years.

ASVAB

The ASVAB is a general knowledge test for entering the US military. Many times students have difficulty with one or more parts of the test, which can drastically lower their overall score. With my background in Math, Science and English Grammar--those subjects usually being the most difficult-- I am able to help raise students scores considerablly in a very short time. I require students to do homework and work at home after I have assigned work, though most breakthroughs occur in our one-on-one sessions.

Business

I have 25 years experience in business management, product development and marketing. I received a BA in International Business Management from the American University of Paris (1994) and an International MBA from ENCEAD (1995). I have been teaching and tutoring Business courses on the college level for 20 years.

Career Development

Having worked on 3 continents in business, product development, management, marketing and sales in addition to my background in politics and education and public speaking, I have an extensive background to help develop high school students and adults towards great career paths. My extensive travel experience and 7+ foreign languages give me an advantage in advising educational paths and directions to go with careers. My work during my own college days in ACT prep and tutoring also help high school students decide the best classes to take for their chosen path.

Chemistry

Chemistry is my favorite course to teach! I do a 6-week intensive AP Chemistry course for my students which includes homework and 4 hours of tutoring a week to get your grade in Chemistry on top! My AP Chem course is the best-rated tutoring in the subject in Oklahoma! Guaranteed to not only get you prepared for College Chemistry, but to pass high school Chem, as well as the AP Chemistry test for college credit. Most students see a 2 grade increase with this course: C-A or a 2-4 on the AP Test. I look forward to your future success! Email me today to help you learn.

Chess

I have played Chess all my life for fun. I would encourage any student to join their Chess club, and learn advanced moves and the ability to see several moves ahead in a game. Chess offers any adept the ability to problem solve and face competition in a proactive and reactive situation. In my life I have beaten nationally ranked players. And, find that the game symbolizes the struggle every young person faces to have the confidence to try something and attempt to succeed at it. It is great for building self-esteem and the problem solving skills for managing one's job in the multitask world we live and work in today.

Classics

With my background in languages I have always had a curiosity for ancient history, languages and literature. The Iliad, the ancient Hindu texts, even the Qabalah. All of these texts have one common strand, that of literary expression of an ancient civilization and its view of religion and man's place in the universe. As a result I read the classics, and have a rudimentary knowledge of Ancient Hebrew, Greek and Latin from my studies since college.

Economics

During my college years at the University of Tulsa, I was a student teacher in Economics, and taught both Macro and Microeconomics classes. I was the top of my college classes in all three semesters of Econ thru international economics at the American University of Paris. Since college I have written a thesis on the economies and rise of ancient cultures in the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin.

Electrical Engineering

Besides having a minor in mathematics already, I am in my last year of an electrical engineering degree program at Tulsa Community College. I will be graduating with triple AS degrees in: electrical engineering technology (EET); substation electrical systems; and alternative energy. My major is solidly founded on electronics, electrical engineering and physics. In fact, completion of these three degrees will constitute associate's degrees of mathematics and physics, as well. I currently tutor electrical engineering students at the University of Tulsa. Their program in many ways is equivalent to ours though ours is condensed into six semesters instead of eight.

ESL/ESOL

As a foreign language instructor for the last 20 years and a speaker of more than 7 languages, my background inclines me to translate between various languages. I have taught English to foreign speakers. My last assignment was a contract through Waste Management to teach their non-English speaking employees general communication and safety skills which then included 911 emergency and CPR training in English.

European History

As a student that grew up partially in Europe, I love the subject of European history, I attended university in France, and as part of my curriculum I studied French History, French cultural history, Parisian Architecture and French Art History.

French

I lived, worked and completed university in Paris France. I still work in my off-time from my day job as PR and marketing manager of a multi-million dollar corporation in the alternative fuel vehicle industry as a French translator. I developed a new system of teaching foreign languages including French about 20 years ago which is 500 times better than Rosseta Stone. My students learn fluency in weeks and months and can use their skills effectively and more efficiently than when taught by any other instructor's methods.

Geography

Geography has also come very easy to me. Since the time that I was a child I was enamored with maps for their power to hold hidden knowledge. Much like treasure maps I find all maps and knowledge of my surroundings and unique locations around the globe vitally important to who I am. As a world traveler, I have visited many of those places as well, and know the variety of cultures.

Geology

Geology is an amazing science that leads to many different areas of study including-- petroleum engineering, fluids, dynamics, structural engineering, construction, soils, and foundations, loads and the study of rocks and minerals. And an avid amateur rock hound, I collect rocks and semi-precious stones. Understanding mineralogy and geology plays a major role in that field. In addition to my love of history, anthropology, and archaeology. All of these fields involve digging in the dirt!

Geometry

Geometry is my favorite Math course to teach! For my private home school students I have completed the entire year in 45 days. For my regular students we have seen up to 3 grade increases from D-A in many cases! I love this course and look forward to helping you reach your greatest potential. Geometry can be fun, and even if you hate it, at least you can get a great grade in it and improve your GPA!

GMAT

The GMAT exam is a general comprehension test used by many Management and MBA University programs as a predictor of your future success. You always need to show you can make it just to get in the door. In many cases, getting in is half the battle. But, you'll never win the war if you aren't prepared. Management education led me to where I am today, and I am thankful for the benefits it has brought me. That is why I really enjoy helping the next generation succeed on their way to becoming the best and brightest in Business Management.

ISEE

I have been teaching the ISEE and SSAT for 2 years. The format is very similar to the ASVAB, AFQT, and AFOQT which I teach all the time, not just seasonally like the ISEE. Many of the same problems in math appear on the ACT and SAT which I also teach. Many of my students have successfully entered parochial secondary school as a result of their tutoring with me on the ISEE.

Italian

For the last 20 years I have been teaching French, Spanish and Italian with a method I developed while living and working in France. I technique I call inter-lingual phonetics, a method to learn how to pronounce foreign language words properly and fluently. This basis for teaching Italian works incredibly well and transformed hundreds of my students over the last 2 decades into multi-linguists, and you can too!

Japanese

Japanese is at the core of my linguistics curriculum. The techniques that I use in training my students in linguistics stems from the pronunciation of vowel sounds in the Japanese language. No other language is more fun or more challenging to learn. The language has 3 sets of letters and symbols from Chinese characters to a set of letters for Japanese-origined words to foreign words. Any sentence could have all 3 or be equally correct in just one of them. The study of Japanese is like curling up with a book by your favorite author, the world you can imagine is only limited by your time to study all the details. Though it may take semesters to master, even your first day of Japanese class will open you up to things you never realized you already knew.

Marketing

After 25 years in Business and an International Business Management degree from the American University of Paris with a focus in Marketing, I have taught numerous courses and tutored on the college level in Marketing. In 2007 I wrote a book on management and marketing entitled "The 10 Commandments of a Successful Business", its primary focus was on proper marketing and sales.

Photography

In my early career in fashion in Paris, France I studied photography at Parsons Paris. Europe is a great place to learn the art of photography both for Architectural elements and posed model photography. For 15 years I worked as a director of photography on numerous photo shoots for fashion, boudoir, art and general ad shots for the fashion industry. Some of my work ended up in gallery art pieces or in my family's albums to show the clothing we designed. Most recently I worked in the Bridal industry and worked as a back-up to a wedding photographer. I am very good at teaching the basics of positioning models, lighting and composition.

Physical Science

Physical Science is the basis for Chemistry and Physics later on in a high school student's academic career. I do not baby the subject but include additional important concepts the student will need to know in their next two courses of science study, focusing on the overall picture of applied mathematics and scientific calculations. With 25 years of experience in math and science teaching and my current work towards earning my Electrical Engineering degree and maintaining a 4.0 GPA, my students will have the upper hand over their classmates.

Physics

Physics is probably my favorite subject to tutor because it is often times so poorly taught in school. I just had to retake Physics in college, as I just went back for my Electrical Engineering Degree, and made a 99% in the class. I will teach your student the same techniques I used to make the highest grade in the class and a 104% on my final! Physics is everywhere, and isn't difficult when taught correctly!

Prealgebra

I have always had a great relationship with Mathematics and numbers. While attending the University of Tulsa I received a minor in Mathematics. I really feel obligated to help especially young people and college students achieve their best in the basic subjects, especially Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.

Precalculus

I have always had a great relationship with Mathematics and numbers. While attending the University of Tulsa I received a minor in Mathematics. I really feel obligated to help especially young people and college students achieve their best in the basic subjects, especially Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus.

Proofreading

As the author of 3 books, I am very well versed in grammar and editing. Language is an exciting subject, because it allows the speaker to use such great and varied methods of self-expression.

Public Speaking

As a member of Toastmasters International, I have extensive public speaking experience. As a PR manager for the American Red Cross and in my regular day job in the Alternative Fueled Vehicle Industry, I am employed as the PR director and give numerous interviews, public statements and further market and brand our company, services and products.

SAT Math

Standardized Math from the SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE, and ASVAB are generally similar in nature. They all require learning tricks and special techniques to solve problems quickly and to know what those tricks are before you take the test. I made a 31 on my ACT 25 years ago, without studying or ever retaking it. I hadn't realized the importance of my standardized test grade at the time. Today if your student can make a 31/36 on the ACT or the equivalent on the SAT she or he can get a 50% scholarship in addition to show why she or he is special and unique standing out from all other graduates!

Spanish

For the last 20 years I have been teaching French, Spanish and Italian with a method I developed while living and working in France. I technique I call inter-lingual phonetics, a method to learn how to pronounce foreign language words properly and fluently. This basis for teaching Spanish works incredibly well and transformed hundreds of my students over the last 2 decades into multi-linguists, and you can too!

Swimming

I am a master Scuba diver and Rescue Diver. Living in the water during the summer or at the beach and lake forms a central part of my life. The time trials and endurance trials to become a Master Diver are tough and you are required to learn proper form and technique to propel yourself through the water very efficiently. It is never too late or too soon to learn to swim. It may save your life or someone else, but it will also teach you when its not safe to swim. Learning the rules of water safety is very important. I am also a trained and certified CPR instructor.

Trigonometry

Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus are two of the most important math courses in a student's career. It must be taken successfully for the student to have a chance in college as well as for preparation for calculus. I excel in teaching this subject both on the high school and college level. With over 25 years of math teaching experience, my students will have the upper hand over their classmates.

World History

I am an amateur historian and have written a book on the subject and designed board games based on world history. The changes which have occurred over the last 5,000 years in the timeframe of Man is but a drop in the ocean, but the developments that have come to be have shaped the world in which we live today.

Writing

As a published author I hope someday to retire and become a full-time writer. Writing is a magical experience as it shares the wisdom and beauty you have uncovered for publication to world to read about.
