I am a retired English teacher with 28 years of experience. I am a retired English teacher with 28 years of experience. I ran the afterschool tutoring program for 10 years and worked with students in my in-school pull-out tutoring during the last two years of my career. I am National Board Certified and have worked with students from 7th to 12th grade. I have patience and love to work with students who are struggling to help flip the switch of learning and see the joy of success.
I have a master's in TESOL, have taught ACT Prep Class, ACT English, and ACT Writing. I am also a highly skilled writing teacher and grammarian. I incorporated the college essay as part of my senior English class and taught my students how to efficiently and effectively write attention-catching essays. I taught AP Language and Composition for many years which was the equivalent to teaching a college English class. I have also worked at our local university as a TOEFL instructor in the summers to prepare international students to pass the English proficiency test. I have taught GED preparation adult education as well.
Please feel free to reach out to get to know me and ask any questions that you may have about my English knowledge or my background. In 28 years of education, I have worked with students at all levels and in 7th grade through college and beyond. I am happy to answer any questions you may have and will try to accommodate you in any way I can.
I am available most evenings and all day on Friday and Saturday if you need to schedule or just reach out to ask questions.
I have been through background check to teach and to work in the after school program so that you can feel secure.
