I retired from teaching in 2014 after being in the classroom for 20 plus years. My specialty is algebra and pre-algebra. I work best with students who struggle learning the basic concepts. I use old fashion books and hard work. Not much into computer games to teach math. I use the paper and pencil routine. Dinosaur thinking yes, but it works if you need one on one help.
I enjoy being with kids and watching them grow in their learning experience. If you have an attitude leave it at home. I am here to help only those that want help.
I have an excellent likeability with students of all ages best suited for grades 6-7-8-9. My specialty has been to do remedial work and help students pass the EOI test given for algebra . I encourage students and parents to be proactive in their education. I mean by that I encourage you to ask questions, keep a journal of the items and concepts that we cover. I want you to feel free to call, text, or email any time you are having problems with any math lesson covered in your school setting.

In those positions I gave tutoring help to students who were struggling in the beginning classes of math. By the end of the school year the students had not only passed the class but advanced from a no credit class to a situation where they earned college credit.
I have been teacher of the year 3 times in my career. The Masonic Lodge has honored me with "Teacher of Today" for excellence in the classroom on two different years of my career. Students nominated me for Who's Who among America classroom teachers an award only 1% of all teachers are named to more than twice.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
