Oklahoma State University (Arch, MAE, BUS)
I graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's of Science focused in Architecture, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Business. I love learning new techniques, skills, and concepts. It's very rewarding to pass what I've learned on to others.
I firmly believe I don't really learn something until I've taught it. Thus, I'm starting my tutoring career with something I've always enjoyed doing and teaching -- architectural drawing and drafting. As time goes on, I look forward to expanding my services to other subjects such as engineering design and entrepreneurship.
I know first hand how demanding architecture school can be. I remember what it was like to spend many hours in studio working on a project only to be rewarded with harsh criticism at the end. Through the help of professors and peers, I was able to excel at my projects and hear the sweet sound of praises from my critics.
While I'm proficient in various CAD software, my specialties are focused in hand drawn and drafted prints and presentation boards. I spent the first two years of my college career perfecting my drafting skills both freehand and with a drafting machine. I know how to design attractive and effective layouts using colored pencil, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. In addition to architectural drawing and drafting, I can also teach model building -- a must in architecture school.
With my experience, I can teach you the tricks and techniques you need to stand out (in a good way!) from your peers. Contact me today and we can work together to build a foundation of good techniques and skills that you'll use for the rest of your career! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
After three years of mechanical drafting, I started learning architectural drafting my senior year of high school. When I started architecture school the following year, I was trained in many different architectural drawing, drafting, and presentation techniques that helped me excel in architecture studio. As I progressed in college, I learned how to turn drawings into models and pair them together for a striking and effective presentation that makes for top grades. I also learned how to manage my time with project deadlines, which is a very important aspect to a successful academic and professional career.
I've been drawing ever since I could hold a pencil, and I have a knack for it. In kindergarten, I won first in my class at the state fair for a sketch. Later in middle school, I won an award at a regional art show for a self-portrait. In high school, I put my talent to work by making exceptional grades in mechanical drafting which later turned into architectural drafting. I continued this trend into college where I made architectural presentations by combing drafted floor plans, elevations, and perspectives with conceptual sketches and renderings.
