I actually started my instructing or teaching in the mid 90's training individuals to become soldiers and the integrity and values which must be upheld in order to maintain the code of conduct which is expected while having the honor of serving and defending our great nation. Upon leaving the military I began a new career as an inspector for refineries and gas plants both here in the U.S. and overseas.
I also finished my Bachelors in Business Management taking night classes at the University of Phoenix at the Tulsa campus which was very challenging. I learned how the teamwork I had taught my own soldiers in the military applied to civilian life as we formed learning teams with classmates which enabled the establishment of exceptional communication skills necessary for success in the business world. I soon became a trainer at my job emphasizing to new hires not only the importance of providing quality reports to our clients but also getting this done in a safe and timely manner.
I am currently continuing my education at Mid America Christian University working towards a Masters Degree to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. My view on tutoring, teaching, and mentoring is creating an excellent rapport and a positive learning environment for the student. This can be done by making them aware that you honestly care and that they can and will succeed as long as they are willing to give their best effort. I still remember the teachers I had during my early school years and how much fun the majority of them made learning for me. Knowledge and Wisdom are important tools necessary for an individual to accomplish and become anything they dream of becoming.
I possess excellent vocabulary and writing skills based most recently on the enormous number of essays written in attaining my degree from the U of P. My inspection position also required writing accurate reports to the upper management of the clients we were contracting for. Attention to detail to include correct punctuation and obviously correct spelling have always been important to me and excellent written communication skills can only enhance your professional skill set.
If any students out there would enjoy a positive and productive learning environment where encouragement from myself along with your willingness to give it your best effort will make for an enjoyable and productive learning environment then give me a shout. Thanks and have an outstanding day. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a 10 year old step daughter that I helped raise from the age of 2 who was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Her mother and I were involved in weekly counseling sessions every other week with her for over 2 years until she finally stabilized with the help of medication. I learned many valuable lessons during these sessions and developed the necessary patience and understanding of this disease during this difficult time. The knowledge and wisdom I developed has been an asset to me in my current position as a Direct Support Professional. Currently I am working with 4 developmentally handicapped adult males in a group home who suffer from ADHD/ADD, Schizophrenia, and various other mental and physical disorders. The empathy and compassion I learned while helping my now flourishing 10 year old step daughter through her battle with this disease has given me the skills and attributes that I use to help my clients live the most productive lives possible for their situation. I am also pursuing a Masters degree in Professional Counseling at Mid-America Christian University so that I can continue to be an asset to individuals who suffer from mental and/or emotional disabilities. Helping others is what I enjoy doing and I look forward to the opportunity and am blessed with the ability to thrive in this field.
I received a Bachelor degree in Business Management in 2007. I've been successful in B2B sales have had various other leadership positions over the years.
I have tutored many students in the basic subjects necessary to pass and attain their GED. Basic math, English, reading, grammar, vocabulary, and writing are my areas of expertise and all subjects which are necessary for success passing the GED test.
I have studied and played the game of golf since the age of 12. I played on the Jr. High and High School golf team. I currently have a 7 handicap and would love to become a scratch golfer one day. I have taught both of my son's how to play and introduced the sport to several friends over the years and was able to play on active duty courses while serving in the military. It truly is a game of skill, integrity, and honor among men and im so grateful that my Dad showed me what an excellent adventure this sport can be.
I am an avid reader and my ability to verbally communicate these reading skills to prospective students has been honed through helping 4 children of my own with homework assignments and teaching other individuals the proper technique's involved in reading the English language. This includes the correct pronunciation, grammar, and spelling necesary to understand and comprehend any type of text written in the English language.
I have a gift when it comes to vocabulary and have always excelled in the subject. I have also taken many entrance exams to further my education such as the Miller Analogy Test, the Act, and the Sat's to secure entrance into the college I attended and am currently attending. It's my job to give students the confidence to think outside the box and open their minds to learning and giving their best effort. If the student is 100% committed to passing any class that I am tutoring them in, I can guarantee a positive learning experience and being a confident test taker is half the battle to pass any class. Open your minds to accomplish any goal you have set for yourself and you can and will make it your reality!!! Work, perseverance, and sacrifice will not only make a student more knowledgable but will also build a strong foundation which will help them be the best that they can be and enable them to live productive and enjoyable lives!!!!
