Over the past 40 some years I have served as: a mentor to students who were interested in reading the classics and other books; a proof-reader for undergrad and graduate students in writing essays, position and research papers. This has been a rewarding and exciting experience and it has been fun, I think, both for me and the students as we worked together to improve and perfect their communication skills. Older elementary, middle school and high school students who were part of a community reading program, were met with one on one, to discuss the book they had read as well as other possible books on an approved list. These students were working to improve their reading and writing skills along with competing with each other to win community awards which included scholarships, and cars. While in graduate school, I was employed by the school to assist international graduate students who were writing theses and help them put/translate their work into proper English and graduate level format.
I come from a family of public school educators - my grandmother, both parents, sisters and brothers-in-law, husband, daughter and son have been or are teachers. I've substituted in public and private schools and worked with lots of children and youth in churches. I have two children and three grandchildren. I feel that children who apply themselves can learn and enjoy reading and writing and, those who do, can become wonderfully educated parents, employees, employers or whatever they might desire. You can learn to read, write effectively and enjoy it immensely! Your success is limited only by your desires.

To whom it may concern,
Loma is an accomplished tutor in the writing field. I have asked her multiple times over the past two years to help me write college level academia, and I have improved my grades considerably. In the beginning, I was unfamiliar with the variety of words in the English language and my spelling was atrocious, but all that is changing and I have been able to increase my vocabulary and improve my grammar in writing and speaking. Additionally, my self-confidence has grown considerably.
I highly recommend Loma to continuing work with fellow college students on their papers. Her responses online are timely and her encouraging manner is most helpful.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
