University of Central Oklahoma (Master's)
I am currently accepting students for the summer.
I graduated in 2007 from the University of Central Oklahoma with a degree in Elementary Education. I graduated with my Master's in Reading in 2012. In addition, I am also certified in LETRS, the Wilson Reading System, and Payne Education Center's Structured Language Basics. I taught first grade for 5 years, spent 2 years as a reading specialist in Oklahoma City, and am currently teaching 3rd grade in Norman. I have taught Wonders, Saxon Phonics, Saxon Math, and Everyday Math. I am trained to give many diagnostic assessments to figure out exactly what skills your child is missing and how to best help them. I am also very knowledgeable in many reading assessments schools that schools give. I am very familiar with the Reading Sufficiency Act (RSA Law) and can help you with any questions you have about it. I am currently accepting students for the summer.

I cannot say enough good things about Crystal D.! She was just the right fit for my daughter who had been struggling in her reading and phonics. We live in another state, and I had to find a tutor for her while she was visiting her father for the summer in OK. I supplied Crystal with as much information from my daughter's previous school year and expressed my concerns. We went over everything via email and sometimes phone. Crystal analyzed everything, came up with a rough game plan, and dove right in with my daughter on her first session. She loved having Crystal as her tutor. Crystal and I communicated often and not just after my daughter's sessions. I could not have asked for better correspondence from her. Crystal even sent lots of materials and recommendations back with my daughter when the summer was over. Thank you Crystal!!! You made such a difference!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
