University of Central Oklahoma (BS Mathematics Educa)
Hello, potential students and parents!
Thank you for taking the time to consider me for your tutoring needs. I have a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics Education. I graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma in December of 2004. I have had a state certification (advanced - secondary), and have taught Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry at Guthrie Public High School. I have also been on the approved tutor list for the University of Central Oklahoma for ten years.
Some of my awards include: Department of Mathematics and Statistics' Helen Chastain Scholarship; 2004, Department of Mathematics and Statistics' Tuition Waiver Scholarship; Spring and Fall 2004, President's Honor Roll; Fall 2002, Fall 2003, Spring 2004, Summer 2004, and Fall 2004. Dean's Honor Roll; Spring 2003. I began working toward my Mathematics Degree in 2002. I began my general requirements education at the University of Oklahoma.
My tutoring technique depends on the learning style of the student. I believe that every student is an individual, and it is my job to instruct in a way that makes sense to the student. I will use any or all of the following instructional methods: verbal instruction, written instruction, manipulatives, calculators, and any other method that is necessary for student learning. I give the student (or parent) a detailed description of what is covered in every session. I will also write a list of suggestions to the student as a guide to continued progress and success.
I approach each tutoring session with the following objectives. First, I determine the end goal for the session. Usual goals include exam preparation, homework, getting caught up, tackling a math phobia, or all of the above! Some students have already identified their goals, so this is a quick step. Next, I assess what the student knows in that area. We cannot get to our destination without knowing where we are. This is also a short processes, that allow me to identify gaps. These steps also maximize our time spent by focusing the session.
Thank you for taking the time to give me your consideration!
I'd love to help you.

She has helped my daughter with geometry- she had a 50 prior to her helping my daughter but the grade went up to a 75 and has been rising steadily. She helped my daughter enjoy math (which is a miracle), thank you so much!
After last week's session with Ginger (her second with my daughter), my daughter actually asked if she could "skip her dance class because she was really getting this math and wanted to practice problems for her test." That has NEVER happened before. She took her test the next day and made a significant improvement over previous test grades. Well done!
My daughter has had 2 lessons so far with Ginger and she has greatly enjoyed both. We are looking forward to the progress she makes. Thanks so much, Ginger!
My daughter left her second tutoring session with Ginger confident about her upcoming midterm exam. It was so nice to see that the "lightbulb", so to speak, is lit. Her comprehension of the material is satisfying.
My Daughter really liked Ginger & she really jumped in there even though it was our first meeting. She seems patient & if my Daughter didn't understand she immediately came up with a different way to explain. Looking forward to my Daughter feeling accomplished!
Great tutor, never gives up. Ginger always finds a way and that's all you can ask from a tutor. Little gains each session is all you can ask from a student and at the end they succeed without even realizing they did, with just a little hard work. I totally recommend her to anyone with a child in need of math help.
My son has been struggling with Algebra due to textbooks & very little notes he receives from the teacher. This tutor is really friendly and patient and she helps my son understand what he needs to be taught in class and is up to speed with everyone else. She spends the extra time to make sure he understands the material that needs to be learned. Always on time, excellent communication, very patient & she encourages my son. He says she's the best tutor he could ask for.
Ginger arrived on time, knew the material, and changed her teaching style to fit my needs. Her background as a teacher is especially valuable, highly recommend.
Ginger really helps me understand every step. She teaches without making me feel stupid, and on top of that, she's really nice too!
Ginger is a great tutor! She is very patient and cares about the student! She was very quick at responding to my calls and was willing to work with our schedule. So glad we found her! highly recommend this tutor!
