I tutor for one-hour sessions. Because of prior issues and time for family and work, late students and no shows will be charged the full hour.
There's no one quite like a special teacher, and no teacher quite as special as you. Thank you Mrs. Cathy you are AWESOME!!!
I LOVE teaching and seeing the students so excited to learn and KNOW they can succeed! Thank YOU! Your niece's smiles make my week!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in education as well as several years of practical and personal experience working with children on the elementary level. As an employee of the school system and mother of 2 children with ADHD, I have learned different methods of working with children that have been diagnosed with ADHD. What works for one child, may not work for another. That is why it is crucial that a teacher and/or tutor find what works best to help children with ADHD become successful.
I have an education degree, emphasizing Special Education. I have worked with students in kindergarten through 4th grade in all areas of study for approximately 6 years. Positive academic achievement will build self esteem, and self confidence, allowing the child to lead a successful, productive life as an adult within his or her community. The teacher, tutor, student, and family working as a team can help a child achieve this important goal.
I tutored a student in college, and was recognized by the professor of the class for "exemplary tutoring techniques" in phonics. I have several years of experience teaching reading and phonics. Not every child learns the same as another, so it is important to teach using different methods of instruction to boost self confidence, and success within the student. I tutored a child in phonics outside of my regular work schedule, and work with children in the classroom.
I have worked with children with special needs in grades kindergarten through 6th grade. The areas I am experienced in are Language Arts, English, science, social studies, spelling, reading, writing, biology, math, and daily living skills.
I have assisted adults with special needs with their daily living skills as well. Ninety-five percent of my college hours were spent in Special Education, and working with children with special needs. I worked with children during seminars, and for the past 6 years in the public school system.
Not all children learn the exact same way. I think offering different methods and mediums is crucial to a child's learning success. I have assisted children while in college and in the field in public school classrooms with success. The children I have worked with make excellent scores on classroom work, homework, and tests.
