The only thing I love more than the written word is sharing the ways that using it well can bring joy and opportunity with others. I have always had a knack for teaching anything word related, in fact, as a second grader, I taught my 4 year old sister to read "playing school!" I have been a literacy tutor and a Kumon teacher.
I specialize in K-8 reading and phonics, grammar, comprehension, and usage. I am able to provide reading readiness instruction as well as reading remediation. Since I have a vast knowledge of children's and young adult literature, only the best materials will be used to ensure that students stay engaged. Students will begin reading above grade level and reading and English grades will improve. Spelling test and vocabulary test help is also available.
In addition, I can help with strategies for the AP English test. I can teach the literary analysis skills necessary to perform well on this timed essay test.
I hold a Masters in Library and Information Studies and am able to assist high school and college students with all facets of research papers including conducting a literature review, proper citing of sources, topic development, and avoiding plagiarism. I offer proofreading and editing services as well. Send me your paper and I will send you feedback that will improve your grade.

I look forward to hearing from students and parents and helping to achieve reading goals that will last a lifetime. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
