Hello! I'm Miranda and I am passionate about helping others achieve their learning goals. I graduated with Bachelor's degrees in History and Art History in 2010. Two years later, I completed a Master's degree in museum studies. Following my graduate studies, I began teaching adult History and Art History at a small college as an adjunct. During this time, I recognized a need for art education in public schools. This influenced me to work toward getting a teaching certificate to teach art for grades Pre-Kindergarten to twelfth. For the three years following, I taught art to all grade levels, achieved a full teaching certificate, and was rated a highly effective teacher.
In addition to my practical qualifications, I bring enthusiasm for the subjects I tutor. This enthusiasm motivates me to be dedicated and patient with my students. Their progress and comfort are of the utmost importance to me.
For the past year, I have started an exciting new career as an English As a Second Language tutor. In 2018, I completed training and received my TOEFL certificate. Currently, I use online platforms for tutoring students all over the world. My students are of varying ages and language levels. Being a part of a student's progress and growth is a delightful experience, and I feel fortunate to be in a position to guide students toward the mastery of their subjects. As an ELS tutor, I give lessons in grammar, vocabulary, IELTS preparation, and conversation practice.
Studying history as one of my majors allowed me to gain a better understanding of the context and background of the current global situation. This is probably what I love most about the subject. I have three years of experience teaching American History to adults, both in the classroom and online. My experience has taught me that making history interesting for the student is the key to their learning success. This is why I enjoyed getting students involved in participating in discussing topics in American history as they relate to one another. Tutoring one-on
