Hi! I am a graduate of Oklahoma State University. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. I have tutored 6th grade reading and college level sociology. I was an Honor's English student in high school and took an Honor's class called Teacher Cadet's. It basically taught me how to be a teacher by preparing lesson plans, playing games and gave me hands on experience with a local second grade class. It was lots of fun! I also have a 5 and 6 year old whom I am constantly helping with their new learning adventures. I love learning and love helping others to learn!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I loved Sociology while in college! I took every Sociology class I could and received my Bachelor Degree in it. The study of Sociology complimented my natural way of viewing and thinking about the world. I held study sessions while at college for Sociology tests. I would thoroughly enjoy tutoring others in this wonderful and interesting subject.
While I was in college at Oklahoma State University I developed wonderful study habits. I was not a great test taker and I knew what my personal learning styles were. I was a visual and tactile learner which meant that the best way for me to learn was by reading and taking notes which fulfilled both learning styles. I learned how to efficiently study which meant paying attention to lectures and taking good notes, following the syllabus given by my teachers, reading all required materials and taking notes or highlighting important topics, doing all homework and attending all study sessions.
In high school in an honors class I took, I learned that not all people have the same learning style. Being a tutor in any subject would mean finding out my pupil's learning style. I would go from there and find a way for them to develop their own great study habits.
In high school I was part of an excellent track team. I ran the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter dash, 4 x 100 relay, 4 x 200 relay and the 4 x 400 mile relay. We won state three years in a row starting with my Sophomore year. My senior year I made Allstate. I qualified for Nationals twice in the 200 meter dash and the mile relay.
My team was my second family. My coach was very wise about nutrition as well as physical training. It was a wonderful experience that I will never forget! I still run to this very day! Running is a great way to enjoy the outdoors, stay in shape and feel great! It provides a personal sense of discipline and achievement.
