Growing up with caring and patient mentors has inspired me to teach in any capacity I can to instill the same fervor for learning that my mentors passed on to me. Growing up with caring and patient mentors has inspired me to teach in any capacity I can to instill the same fervor for learning that my mentors passed on to me. I learned the most throughout dedicating time to FIRST Robotics throughout high school, learning how to problem solve, lead a team, and mentor others in a unique setting.

Through FIRST Robotics I was able to reach out to the community through volunteering in our team’s summer program, teaching young students how to program NXT Lego robots to complete tasks similar to challenges developed through FIRST Robotics’ FIRST Lego League (FLL) branch. Furthermore, I was able to mentor students for, and even judge, at the local FLL Championships hosted at my high school. Our robotics team also raised funds through a program called Sciencing on Saturday, or S.O.S, for short. Through S.O.S I was able to work with fellow team members to design and teach lesson plan in various science topics from natural disasters, to chemistry, to physics. These lessons were taught to various age groups and occurred biannually. Throughout high school I was able to teach eight student-designed-and-led, hands-on science lessons to students from first through fifth grade.

These experiences in FIRST Robotics helped me when I applied for a program called Taiwan Summer AID, a program for students across the world to teach English in various areas in Taiwan. Taiwan Summer AID allowed me to expand my teaching experience to teaching in a different cultural setting from home and allowed me to adapt lesson plans according to the progress of the students over the two weeks I taught in Taiwan.

I hope that through tutoring I can learn to interact with even more students with a wide array of interests and help them foster their curiosity and imagination for years to come.

From AP Literature and AP Language, to AP Psychology and AP World History, I have explored numerous types of text and writing styles. Additionally, having experience with both the ACT and SAT, as well as scoring well in the Reading, English/Writing, and Essay sections, will help me effectively teach studying strategies for students needing help in those areas.

I hope that you will trust me as a mentor to help you in your endeavors! If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me.

Stephanie is very detailed oriented and makes great notes and outlines.

Stephanie has been quick to respond every time I had a question. She keeps her word and completes work on time and with detailed accuracy. This was my first time using a Wyzant tutor and I couldn't be more pleased.
