Hi all! I am a senior at UCO right now, graduating with my English Education degree. I currently work as an English and Writing tutor at UCO and worked previously at an area college in the Writing Center. I've worked as a tutor for 4 years. This summer I would love to work full time tutoring students who need to strengthen their English Writing, Reading, Grammar, Listening, and/or Speaking skills.
I've worked with children as young as 3rd grade in Bethany Public Schools, and I've tutored 80 year olds at OCCC who are returning to school! I've taught 1st graders how to read, and I've worked with ESL students privately and, at the college level, through an ESL Conversation Group. I've helped students study for placement tests including the TOEFL, IELTS, and ACCUPLACER.
So, whether you are a parent seeking to get your students up to grade level before school begins next year, or someone who would like to strengthen their skills before entering college, I'm available to help! I would like to say that I had a great experience working with Jade. She was a great help in improving my writing skills. If you are doing your IELTS, TOFEL or any other English testing I would recommend her to be your guide in the English language. I was able to tutor with Jade face to face in person and through skype and both were equally helpful. She is easy to reach by text message and email. I hope you will consider her as your tutor.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I teach a study skills seminar at a community college. It focuses on SQ4R, and also includes many great tips that can be used across the board. I teach this one on one and to large groups.
