“**Knowledgeable and understandable**”

I fell in love with math in the 4th grade and have always wanted to be a mathematician. Though I received a doctorate in mathematics in 2000, I have been teaching at the college level (and tutored high school from time to time) for over 20 years now. One of my greatest joys in life comes from seeing understanding set upon someone to whom I am

Background Check:
Passed

In-person lessons

Teaches in such a manner that is very easily understood by my 14 year old son. Teaches concepts rather than simply working through homework problems to help him understand how to solve problems in the future.

Michael has been great with my son. My son is bright and just needs help deriving longer problems and Michael has really helped him maintain his confidence and find clarity in his work.

Math:

ACT Math,
Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have been teaching college level mathematics for over 20 years and I have tutored hundreds of students during this same time, also. When I was in high school, I scored a 34 on the ACT, and I have always been able to explain to students good test-taking strategies to help them improve their scores. I always enjoy working with high school students since their minds are more like sponges eager to soak up ideas and information.

I have taught college algebra for the last 20 years, and I have tutored hundreds of algebra students during the same time. Algebra is one of my more favorite things to do. I received my Ph.D. in math in 2000, and I have worked with high school algebra students, with college algebra students and with returning algebra students who have spent years in the workforce.

I have taught college algebra each year for the last 20 years. I have tutored hundreds of students over this time - it is one of my favorite things to do. I have a PhD in mathematics and I can either show you one way to work an algebra problem or I can show you a dozen (most students opt for just one). I have tutored high school algebra students and I have tutored adults returning to college after being in the workforce for years, as well as students in between these two extremes.

I have taught calculus each semester for the last 21 years. When I received my doctorate in mathematics, I put myself in a position where I could teach calculus, and it is one of my favorite math classes to teach. I have never tutored a student in mathematics who has failed the course, and I think this is because I am able to get students to understand the math, not just memorize it. Calculus, being a class required by every science major in college, is important to learn in order to be successful in today's technological society and I believe if you can learn algebra then you can learn calculus.

I specialized in geometry when I went to graduate school. I have multiple original publications in geometry in mathematical research journals, and I have tutored hundreds of high school students as well as college students in geometry for the last 20 years.

I have tutored quite a lot of students through linear algebra for many years. I am a professor at UCO and for the last few years, I have taught linear algebra. For many years I taught Operations Research, which is a graduate level class that is really not much more than applied linear algebra. In fact, I have utilized linear algebra in many of my original publications in research journals.

I began teaching college level math at Louisiana State University back in 1995. My first few years teaching I exclusively taught beginning arithmetic. I also volunteered my services at the local middle school and the local high school in order to feel I was giving back to the community. I have tutored hundreds of prealgebra and algebra students since then.

I have taught trigonometry at the college level for the last 20 years. I have adapted to a variety of different learning styles and worked with many, many students throughout the years. I have tutored high school and college trigonometry students one-on-one in the past, and feel confident that my approach will yield successful results.
