I have over twenty years of experience teaching Physics and Mathematics classes as a University Professor. I have taught introductory physics and algebra courses as well as more advanced courses. I have experience tutoring University level, High School, and Middle School students in physics and mathematics.
My personal approach to tutoring is to adjust my presentation of material to the level a student is at. If a student has difficulty with an algebraic step when working through a physics problem then we spend time on the math and find out where the difficulty is and practice that so they are comfortable with that in the future. I believe students retain learned concepts very well when they have opportunity to explain what they have just learned. So I like to give students an opportunity to explain what they have learned and it also helps to catch if they understood all the parts.
Students frequently say to me that they appreciate how I make topics simple and understandable and that they enjoy understanding what they are doing instead of the difficulty of memorizing a long sequences of steps that they may not understand the reasons for. Students also appreciate that I give them an opportunity to practice something that they have just learned and feel a lot more confident when they do. Hello!

He knows his stuff. Puts out a good product, gives you all the right tools to succeed -- a real no-nonsense kind of guy. Well recommended for AP Physics.
Our son has loved his lessons from Tim. In just a couple of days, his grades have skyrocketed and, even better, his understanding and enjoyment of AP Physics has greatly improved - finding him has been a blessing!
His knowledge and understanding of physics is impressive, as he has taught physics for many years. What sets him apart from other tutors is his ability to present concepts in a way that they can be easily understood. He is a true teacher of the subject and very pleasant to work with.
Tim helped my son prepare for a test in physics. The result was an A on the test! He simplified the formulas he was struggling with and helped him to better prepare for the material that was on the test.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over twenty years of professional programming experience creating many functional projects in the C programming language. I have taught scores of students C programming. I have been a consultant on projects that involved extensive algorithm development and code writing in C. I am currently developing software for an Astrophysics application written in C.
