Bio

I love to learn and to help others learn. I understand how studies can be frustrating sometimes, but with some practice and fun perseverance, success will happen. I especially enjoy tutoring phonics and handwriting.

In addition to being a senior of a Bachelors degree in Child Development at Fort Hays State University, I have attended two summer workshop training days provided by HWT (Handwriting Without Tears) for elementary school age children. We learn how to print each letter and also write each letter in cursive with appropriate letter connecting strategies: letter ending at the top and connecting to a letter beginning at the top; letter ending at the top and connecting to a letter beginning at the bottom; letter ending at the bottom and connecting to a letter beginning at the top; letter ending at the bottom and connecting to a letter beginning at the bottom. I also have experience in strategies of proper word spacing and describing letter shapes.

I have completed three years of college towards an undergraduate child development degree. I have home schooled my daughter from kindergarten to the 8th grade. I have tutored, and am continuing to tutor, an elementary school student in phonics, reading, writing, and math. I enjoy tutoring elementary school age in phonics: I start with learning short vowel sounds, consonant sounds, consonant and vowel 2 letter blends, long vowels, 3 letter blends, special sounds, and sight words. I use Abeka Book and Handwriting Without Tears curriculum.
