My name is Cindy, and I look forward to the opportunity to help with your language learning needs. I am an adjunct English instructor at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology and at Southwestern Christian University’s Tulsa adult studies campus. I was an English and Spanish teacher for Broken Arrow Public Schools for the past nine years, and at Tulsa Public Schools for two years. I have a lifelong calling to be a teacher, but I feel that God is calling me to teaching in an area in which I can help students grow both academically and spiritually.
I have a Master of Arts in English, with a TESL option from Oklahoma State University. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education – English Education degree from Northeastern State University. While at NSU I obtained state teaching licensure in English, Spanish, and English as a Second Language. I also completed a Summer Program in Advanced Spanish Studies from Monterrey Institute of Technology in Guadalajara, Mexico. I completed my Associate Degree from Tulsa Community College. I graduated with highest honors from each of these colleges.
I am continuously seeking new opportunities to serve the Lord as he leads, both through Christian service as well as professionally. I am an active member of Access Church in Tulsa. Each summer I serve on the mission field in the capacity of evangelism, interpretation, and English teaching. I have served in Mexico, Peru, Honduras, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Malawi (Africa), and the Sioux Reservation in South Dakota. Through the years I have taught numerous Bible school classes. My husband and I also lead a Bible study at our home every Sunday evening. Professionally, I was the building representative for Broken Arrow Education Association through Broken Arrow Public Schools. I also have Advanced Placement certification in English and Spanish from the University of Tulsa Summer Workshop.
My husband and I have 4 adult children of our own. I would love the opportunity to help in the English, Spanish, or Bible education of your children. I hope we can meet soon. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
