Rochester Institute of Technology (Mechanical Engineer)
Embry Riddle (Master's)
I am mechanical engineer with over 11 years experience of working experience in my field. I am currently finishing my Mater of Science thesis in Aeronautics. I have always loved mathematics and physics and they have been my favorite subjects since my childhood. My passion for math and science led me to my career in engineering and still continues to open doors of amazing opportunities for me.
For the part 3 years, I have been dedicating part of my time in mentoring and tutoring (STEM) in middle schools and high schools in school districts in my city that have a high need for professional mentors and STEM teachers. I have also been a substitute teacher - for only math and science- in the Broken Arrow school district with over 2000 hours of actual class room work.
Due to my passion for teaching, and especially my desire to motivate young people to dream big and work hard to succeed, I volunteer my summers teaching Intro to Engineering at a top private high school in my city. I am also a verified and approved mentor on the Robotics team at Cascia Hall Preparatory School ( Another private school in Tulsa), which competes at the national level.
Finally, I would like to also say, teaching isn't just something I like to do. I see it as on of my gifts and as an senior engineer, I have by default and desire though younger engineers and even peers many problem solving skills and tools. And as a mentor and tutor/teacher, the smile on a pupil's face as a result of the confidence gained from understanding a once too difficult to understand subject is worth the many hours of preparation I put into my work, weekly. I teach high school seniors and serve honor classes Algebra 2. And have over 2000 hours of part-time tutoring on the subject.
I have been mentoring and tutoring calculus at both a Preparatory School and a Public Schools. I substitute teach, on occasion, an AP calculus class. And my recent topic were on the product rule, quotient rule sine, consine and tangent derivatives, their inverse functions; arctan, arcsine and arccosine, rate of change/rate of decay and calculating volume by integrating area etc.
My goal is to help develop, at an early stage, the love for math by making it fun and applicable.
I am practicing mechanical engineer. I graduated with a BS in mechanical engineering 11 years ago and i have been mentoring and tutoring at both Casia Hall and the Broken Arrow Public Schools.
