Hello! My name is Natalie. I have 15 years teaching experience with the special needs population. I have worked for The Rich Center for Autism for 11 of those years. My primary focus has been supporting students with Autism, Aspergers, ADD/ADHD as well as Oppositional Defiance Disorder. I have worked primarily with the high functioning autism elementary school level population.
I love working with students and look forward to going to work each day. My goal has always been to treat my students with the same respect and love that I would want someone to treat my own children. I strive daily to help my students become as successful, confident and independent as possible with my guidance.
With a psychology and education background, I specialize in tutoring elementary aged special needs children in all academic, social and behavioral areas.
I will be happy to set up tutoring sessions at any local library in our area. I do require a 24 hour cancellation notice. Please contact me to learn of my availability and to get started on our lessons. Hello! My name is Natalie. I have 15 years teaching experience with the special needs population. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am highly qualified in the area of ADD/ADHD as a result of my educational background as well as my experience working with this population for over 11 years as an Instruction Specialist at The Rich Center for Autism. A great majority of our Autistic students also carry a diagnosis of ADD/ADHD. All goals, objectives and behavior plans for each individual child are developed and implemented with this in mind. I also am currently working with students on a daily basis in our transition program that possess this ADD/ADHD diagnosis. I am responsible for helping these students improve their focus with a variety of methods and modifications.
I have worked with the Autism population for 15 years. I currently am working to help students with this diagnosis transition to their least restrictive environment. My expertise is with high functioning autistic, elementary students.
I have taught and tutored elementary students in the area of phonics and reading for 15 years. I primarily work with students in this area on a daily basis in a school setting. I work with students on a one to one basis as well as in small groups. We work on vowel sounds, both long and short, as well as blending cvc words, vowel pairs, VC words, R-controlled vowels, vowel digraphs and consonant digraphs.
Many of the students I work with have a dual diagnosis. Dual diagnosis is very common across the special needs population. I have worked and am currently working with the Autism/Aspergers population which falls under the special needs population.
