I have 5 years experience as a special education and gifted education teacher in math and language arts in grades 2-12. Part of my gifted master's degree was in educational technology. I have established my own classroom computer lab and used it in inner city high school special ed and 5-6 gifted classes as well as in a 3-6 grade Special Ed in a charter school. I believe in a hands-on learning environment and that the student must enjoy learning so he/she is motivated to want to return to and master a task. Prior to accepting a full-time contract, I substituted for several years in Canfield in K-12 in every subject. I enjoyed the challenge and the variety of topics. History is a personal passion.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
