Approved subjects
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Drawing
I have been drawing for the better part of my life, and have been teaching drawing for the past 10 years, the last 5 at a local career and technical college (Teaching Adult Education). I am a professional artist and have both exhibited my work and sold throughout both Northeasetern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania. I also sell my work to various gift shops, and art museums, plus my own website and online galleries. I teach students various techniques in drawing, including showing how to shade, using perspective to create depth and atmosphere, and using tonal values. The methods I use will have you drawing from both photo's and also three dimensional objects. I will also show you how to change color to black and white, (From a Painting or Photograph). All of this will give you the student a good enough background to pursue more advanced and detailed drawings.
Painting
I have been painting in Watercolor for the past 12 years. My style is primarily realism, but I also do impressionism type paintings. I have sold and exhibited my work throughout Northeast Ohio, and Western Pennsylvania. I also sell my work both online and to various gift shops and art museums. I will acquaint you to watercolor painting (Whether a beginner of intermediate student needing to brush up on certain techniques). You will be taught various techniques in watercolor, such as mixing colors, applying glazes, using the dry brush technique, wet on wet application, and the lifting of paint from an area to achieve a desired effect. I will also show you how to use mixed media such as the incorporation of ink with your watercolor painting. These methods will alow you to advance to more detailed paintings, while still allowing you to use your own creativity to achieve your desired art goals.
