BA College of Wooster in Wooster, OHIO BA (Philosophy)
I have been tutoring students since high school, and worked as a volunteer at a school for the deaf in downtown Chicago. I currently volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club near me, tutoring students in everything from math to language arts and science. I am currently a philosophy major at the College of Wooster, and I am interested in getting more tutoring experience.
One of the most gratifying things to do is to help someone learn something or to get them to a place where something 'clicks'. The world is immense, and there's literally more to learn than anyone could hope to do in a lifetime, but every day is an opportunity to start hacking away at all that unlearned knowledge.
I have taken an introductory course, Chinese Philosophy, Indian Philosophy, Rationalism and Empiricism, Ethical Theory, and a course on the Meaning of Life, for which I was also a TA.
I know the rules of English, as complicated as they are, and know all the tricks to learning them.
I have been taking German for 10 years, and ASL for 5 years. I have traveled in Germany, and have completed through sixth semester German at a college level. I am myself HOH, and have lots of experience within the Deaf community.
I applied to 15 colleges, and know the ins and outs of the process.
Feel free to call me beep me if you want to reach me, I'd love to help you out! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
