Shawnee State U (psychology)
I graduated from Shawnee State University in May of 2014 with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Although I majored in psychology, my goal has always been to become a certified teacher. In October of 2014, I was hired at Nationwide Children's Hospital to work on a specialized unit with kids ages 4-18 with a variety of psychological diagnoses. My experience at Nationwide Children's allowed me to work with kids in both a professional and educational setting. Then, in May of 2016 I moved back closer to where I grew up (Greenfield, OH) into my first home in Wilmington, OH with my new wife, Marissa. I am currently employed at Ohio Means Jobs in Clinton county as the 'Dropout Recovery Specialist', working with individuals with a barrier to their education who have dropped out of high school and tutoring those individuals to obtain their GED.
I have worked with countless individuals during my time as the 'Dropout Recovery specialist' at OMJ, with a variety of English, Reading and Vocabulary backgrounds and have been successful in helping those individuals reach their potential in these areas.
I consider myself to be sort of a History buff to say the least, but my experience in this area again, comes from tutoring individuals in my current position.
While at Nationwide Children's hospital, I worked with two low functioning dyslexic adolescents and although their hospital stays were relatively short, the progress they made under my tutoring was immense. This has always been an area of interest for me and I feel that I have the patience to work with individuals who struggle in this area.
The hours I will be available include 5pm-9Pm Monday through Friday, but I am flexible. Please feel free to contact at anytime! I very much look forward to working with you on your path to success! Thanks!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
During my time at Nationwide Children's Hospital, I worked with a couple of adolescent individuals with Dyslexia. Over the course of several weeks, I was able to make tremendous strides with these individuals and saw progress in their reading skills and writing skills alike. Although I do not hold a certification in this area, I believe with patience and determination to assist this population in growth and development educationally.
In high school, I played all 4 years of high school football. I have experience coaching at the junior high level. Over the last twelve years I have studied the game almost on a daily basis and have been offered multiple positions as a high school assistant coach, unfortunately I have not had a work schedule to be able to achieve this goal.
I work with individuals on a daily basis in my current position on handwriting in a variety of ways. I often hand out hand writing assignments to my clients and then go over the content of those assignments on a one on one basis. I have worked with both youth and adult clients in this area.
Psychology major while enrolled at Shawnee State University, therefore I took multiple Sociology classes. I had taken and passed courses including; Introduction to Sociology, Social Theory and Sociological Methods. Being that I am a former Social Sciences major, I am very comfortable in this area.
