Worked towards MBA (Master's)
Ohio State University (Graduate Coursework)
I have been a life-long learner myself and had about eighteen years of formal night school. That included a couple of courses in Tokyo while I was in the US Army and four years at Ohio University to get 1 1/2 years of engineering while working full time at Goodyear Atomic Corporation's Metallurgy Laboratory as a technician. I obtained a BS in Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Kentucky in Lexington full time and subsequently worked on an MBA degree at Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio, nights. My wife convinced me to quit school and help our two young sons rather than spend so much time in the libraries.
My wife and I are from Portsmouth, Ohio and have lived in Westerville, Ohio for forty-six years. I taught courses for the former Columbus Foreman's Club, which became Columbus Technical Institute (CTI). CTI morphed into Columbus State Community College (CSCC) for the State of Ohio and I have taught there since its' inception. I have taught and tutored Algebra courses for CSCC for several years and I am now tutoring in Developmental Education's Math Lab there. Our student's unfortunately have poor math backgrounds and many are from African and South American nations. They are eager to learn and our tutors do an exceptional job of answering their questions and giving them the basics to succeed in math. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a retired engineer and math tutor at Columbus State Community College
I have had courses through advanced algebra, college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and differential equations at Ohio University, University of Kentucky and Ohio State University. I have taught or tutored courses in metallurgy, manufacturing, and mathematics at Columbus State Community College for approximately forty years on the side. I would enjoy working with your student.
I have written many technical papers when I was active in Metallurgical Engineering. I have ten books published since I retired and I am currently writing my eleventh.
