I was employed for a year at the American School in Milan, Italy. I was the college career counselor and a tutor of English. There were 52 countries represented in the school. I have a very diversified background in government, higher education, and business. It is always exciting to influence and inspire students to do their best. The success as a student leads to lifelong education. Thinking critically and speaking intelligently are vital ingredients.

I am writing the review of Jane by way of feedback provided by my daughter's mother. I arranged to have Jane meet my daughter Lola because I just moved across country for work and Lola will be following in a few months. Lola has been attending a French Immersion school but will switch to an English school in the Fall. I wanted to ensure she doesn't struggle when she makes the transition and starts 2nd grade and Jane made the whole process very smooth and simple. She was quick to respond and outlined her ability to accommodate our questions and goals very clearly. Following the first session, Lola's mother advised me that Jane was well planned, communicated and interacted well with Lola and that Lola responded very well to her tutoring. She was tickled about the book Jane gave her and when I spoke with Lola about the experience she said she had fun and wants to work with Jane again. Jane gave great feedback about where Lola can use improvement but also assured us that she is further along than we had thought. Jane gave us an action plan to work with Lola on our own and also offered an overview of what continued sessions would consist of, but was not pushy about doing more...though I think we will use her again.
Overall, Jane was a great tutor!
We had our last session last night. Ms Jane has been wonderful. I never had an argument with my daughter about going to tutoring. She loved the 1 on 1 attention she got from Ms. Jane and has made tremendous progress. She is back on target with her reading level and is very sad she doesn't need to go back for tutoring. We're very happy with the results.
Pam, thank you for your generous comments. Please ask Megan not to be sad because she can call me anytime to chat.
Jane W. is a great tutor. She is very patient and very nice to her students. My son enjoyed his learning time with Jane and She is a wonderful person.
Jane has been my ESL tutor for the last 9 months and I am very happy with my teacher and my progress. Jane is knowledgeable, experienced and detail oriented tutor. She also has great work ethic and patience. I would recommend this tutor to anyone who is interested in improving their English. Thank you, Jane!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters from The Ohio State University in Higher Education with a major in Career Development.
I was the Director of Career Development at 2 private universities for 10 years. I taught courses, developed programs, and implemented strategies and programs for internships, employer relationships, and career days.
I have a MBA with courses in economics, calculus, human resources, management, etc.
I taught classes in 3 school districts for K-12 as a substitute teacher for 5 years. I taught English for a year in the American School of Milan, Italy. I also tutored many students in high school of different nationalities.
I am certified to teach English grammar. I am a substitute teacher in 3 school districts with emphasis on English grammar. I am from the old school of diagraming sentences and understanding all the verb tenses. I am happy to apply these rules to composition which is so important in communicating ideas.
In my political career, I spoke on the behalf of candidates to audiences numbering 3 to 4 thousand. I have made many presentations in my role as Director of Career Services in two private colleges. Also, I designed a course in Leadership for undergraduates. I suggest the following principles to be considered by public speakers:
1. Determine exact purpose and subject of your presentation; determine if it is to inform or persuade. 2. Organize/outline major points with a beginning, middle, and end. Generally think of 1 major point and 3 sub points. 3. Deliver in a style appropriate to the occasion to establish a rapport with the audience. 4. Most speakers prefer an extemporaneous style of delivery which is not memorizing but following an outline. 5. Important information needs to be repeated at least 3 times for the audience to retain for future reference. 6.Supporting materials such as illustrations, anecdotes and jokes can be interwoven into the monologue. These are just a few principles I use when I speak in public.

I am certified to teach English as a Second Language. I have tutored several children and adults with English composition and grammar. I have a Master's degree in Career Counseling.
I assisted high school students to prepare to enter college as Director of Career Services at two private colleges. I suggested that students (1)study in one comfortable place, (2) prepare each day (3) use critical thinking as they read assignments and (4) take notes in class and rewrite them after studying the text. I advised students to ask questions and make him or her known to the instructor. Finally, I advised the students to meticulously go over the test results to improve their record.
