Muskingum Universtiy (Early Childhood Ed)
Southern New Hampshire University (Master's)
I was born and raised in Coshocton county, I attended Muskingum University where I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Right out of college I was offered a job in extreme southwest Kansas, I taught first grade in Kansas for two years before severe allergies forced me from the area. I was then hired in south central North Carolina, where I have been teaching until recently. I left North Carolina due to the extremely low pay. I graduated from Ridgewood High School and spent my spare time in High/middle school tutoring elementary students in a program called TLC. I was even made a head tutor for the last 3 years.
I believe that children learn best with hands on, concrete games and true to life situations that apply the skills they are learning. I am a very hands one teacher in that I want all children to experiment with manipulatives in Mathematics, I want them to do science experiments, and I want them to foster a love of learning. I believe every child has the right and the ability to have a life long love of learning. I also do my best to in-cooperate your child's individual interests to help make the content stick with them. I also work to identify your child's missing skills that are keeping them from being successful in school. By utilizing research based methods I help the child fill in the gaps missing in their instruction to ensure success. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am a trained teacher with a large body of knowledge about how to help a student study. I have taught for 3+ years and have helped older students gain the knowledge they needed in order to be successful. Outlines, flashcards, Powerpoints, and games are all excellent ways for a student to study.
