Tina had worked with my daughter for the last two weeks and I must say I'm very pleased. My daughter came from a charter school system into public school where the curriculum is a lot different. Due to this difference she seemed to be very behind educationally compared to the other children. This obstacle left my daughter frustrated and confused and her grades and zeal declined dramatically. I did the best I could to help her but the learning styles have changed so much since I was in school. First I sought help from sylvan an I have to say they were way too high and no progress was made. So I sought out private tutoring and was blessed to come across Tina. I loved her profile and credentials and felt she would be a great fit for my daughter. She was able to identify my daughters strengths and weaknesses and plan the lessons accordingly. Since my daughter has started tutoring with Tina she had become more excited about learning and is sharing what she is learning. I am soooooo pleased with what Tina is doing for my daughter. Thank You.
Tina W has been tutoring my son for over 1 year.
My son is now in 3rd grade, at the end of 1st grade despite the teachers telling me that my son was doing great throughout the year. By the end of the year his reading was very behind. I realized I had to do something. Doing many internet searches, I found WyzAnt and Tina. My son is very shy and had no problems warming up to Tina, she is very good with children. In the beginning the sessions started out 1 hour long on a weekly basis. Soon after with my son being comfortable with her we started 2 hour long sessions twice a week. We have continued that to present time. My son's improvement has been amazing and at the end of 2nd grade he was reading independently and at the level he should be. By continuing the sessions it has kept him confident about his reading and writing, which has given him a great start for 3rd grade. Tina has been flexible, reliable and respectful to my child's needs. I greatly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taken certification in the Orton Gillingham Reading Training which is a specialize reading for students who have trouble reading. I have also attending and been trained in the Stevenson Reading program which is another specialized reading program. I have worked with many dyslexic students in my career and have many hands on and multisensory approaches to teaching phonics to students using all senses.
