I am a licensed Speech Language Pathologist with 28 years' experience. I am a current member of the American Speech Hearing Association (ASHA) and the Ohio Speech Language Hearing Association (OSLHA). In my years of practice, I have worked in a variety of settings. I began my career as a school-based speech pathologist in Charleston, SC, where I worked with deaf and hard-of-hearing students. I spent a number of years working with the birth-three population in a six county services area before completing my graduate degree. I am currently the Director of Speech services at a small hospital. My position affords me the opportunity to treat patients ranging in age from toddler-geriatric experiencing a variety of communication disorders.
My belief is that each student deserves a highly individualized tutorial program that is strength-based. Confidence and a "can-do" attitude are important tools for the struggling learner. Parent/caregiver education is important for carryover of skills and is provided as part of each session. Evidence-based therapeutic strategies paired with forward thinking skill building techniques are provided to each student for an optimal outcome.
