My name is Mitwa; I love to teach and am very patient! Whether you need help getting started on a paper or need your draft proofread, I can help! In addition, I am very good at pinpointing areas of weakness in writing; since everyone has their own style of writing, these weaknesses can vary quite a bit from person to person. I can give you personalized advice after working with you and help you avoid making such errors in the future. I can help you improve grammar, structure, tone, and effectiveness of your writing.
My previous experiences include tutoring high school and college students in math and writing, and working as a proofreader/editor. I am capable of editing anything from high school essays to Masters' theses. While tutoring in math, I help students solidify their understanding of the basic concepts underlying the greater concepts; I often find that a thorough comprehension of the basics helps students not only grasp new concepts more easily but also equips them with the skills to reason through challenging concepts on their own.
I also tutor other subjects. I gauge my students' style of learning and adapt my ways of teaching accordingly. Students of all ages are welcome to contact me regarding the listed subjects.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you think I can be of any help to you. I hope to hear from you soon! Hello!

I had to get help writing an essay, and Mitwa helped me outline it. After that, she made sure to check up on me to make sure that I was finishing it before I turned it in and proofread it for me to make sure there were not any errors. This is my first experience with getting help with a tutor and she was a great tutor!!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took Algebra 1 in high school. I was a straight A student throughout high school and am currently an applied math minor at the University of Washington. I have tutored peers in math throughout high school. I would be happy to help you grasp mathematical concepts, finish assignments, and prepare for exams.
Often times students don't see the importance of certain mathematical concepts and wonder, "when am I ever going to use this?" Having a thorough understanding of fundamentals of mathematics is crucial in order to succeed in higher level high school or college material because math often builds upon itself. However, sometimes it can be difficult to get younger students motivated to learn due to lack of context. I believe that rather than just drilling information into students' minds, it's important to give context to the information so that students can relate to it more easily. The context can vary depending on the students' age; providing appropriate context to increase motivation is generally half the battle for students who struggle with elementary math. In addition to teaching students what they need to learn, I also believe in teaching them how to think so that they develop skills on how to approach a problem on their own.
Motivation and problem solving skills go a long way in math. I've tutored people of all ages in math and each student is unique in their learning style and I'm easily able to adapt to their style of learning.
