I have a passion for helping others to learn. Growing up in a large family, I have always felt the desire to help where I can. Being a teacher with a masters degree, I have the tools and experience to help your child not only succeed, but enjoy learning. I believe in positive reinforcement and have found great success with this method. It is my goal to not only help your child learn, but to find it enjoyable! I can help!
I have been teaching and tutoring my whole life. When I was a teen, I tutored children in my neighborhood to help them read. In college, I was a math/algebra tutor. I also taught in the public schools; 4 years in 4th grade and 2 years in 5th grade. During this time, I was head of the math textbook committee (responsible for curriculum to match the state's standards). I also lead the after school math test prep for 5th graders and had the privilege to host student teachers in my classroom. I believe it is a gift to be able to help people learn.
Here's a little bit more about myself. I am 34 years old, married with three beautiful children. My oldest is Sylvia, who is 4, my son Pete is 2, and my baby, Selena, is 5 months old. We live in Ohio. I love cooking, crafts, walking, and spending time with my family. I am currently at home with them because they are still young. I am eager to get back into the classroom when the time is right. In the mean time, I would love to help you with all your educational needs.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold an active Ohio teaching license. I am certified K-5 all subjects in Ohio. I was also previously certified in the states of Michigan and Georgia. Both those states K-5 all subjects and 6-8 Science and Geography. I have taught 4 and 5 grade for 6 years.
I am an experienced teacher with a master's degree, having studied "study skills." I have studied and applied these methods when helping my students in the classroom. In addition, I am able to set up an effective study plan for my students. These plans will include, best times to study, appropriate places to study, effective methods to learn material, and strategies to get help if needed.
