The University of Toledo (Foreign Language Edu)
Hello! I am a graduate of UT and have experience with children ages 2-18. I have camp counselor, preschool, student teaching, substitute teaching and high school teaching experience. I love working with children/students and their families and believe that learning is fun and rewarding and doesn't have to be hard.
My course experience includes German history from ancient medieval times until present, German grammar, literature and culture as well as courses in English reading and fiction including young adult reading/fiction and education courses ranging from teaching in urban communities to diversity in contemporary society. I took and passed both the PRAXIS teaching and the speaking and writing proficiency tests for the American Association for the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
I have taken ALL the German classes! Seriously, every upper level German course that UT offers has been graced with my presence :). I have grammar, literature, reading, culture and history knowledge as well as reading and speaking fluency and teaching experience.
German grammar is ridiculous! Which means my English grammar skills are also ridiculous(ly good :))! I also have experience with most, if not all, of the awesome classic literature assigned in school, including: To Kill A Mockingbird, All Quiet on the Western Front, Hamlet, Shakespeare, etc.
I am very well-acquainted with the five paragraph essay as well as MLA, APA and Chicago formatting. I can assist with paper writing and editing as well as generating works cited pages. Writing pages is easy, there's no need to format incorrectly or plagiarize. I can help!
I am also experienced with early learning! I was a preschool teacher for ~2 years and have experience teaching letters, letter recognition, phonics and beginning reading/writing skills.
I love Microsoft Word and Office! I spent years writing and formatting papers and subsequent years making and printing worksheets so Word and I have spent some quality time! I am here to teach you how to open new and saved documents, save documents in different formats, format your work and even how to make it look stylish and beautiful.
History isn't as boring as your gigantic textbook makes it sound, I promise! Together we can find the best historically accurate ways: awesome movies, videos, magazines, articles, pictures and books to help you learn what you need to know about your country. It's fascinating I promise!
I offer a very diverse skill set, all wrapped up in patience, fun, experience and kindness. I have flexible availability and would love to meet with you! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
