Although originally from northwest Ohio, an opportunity to live and work in South America for almost 30 years opened up a whole new world of adventure, challenges and understanding of cultural diversity. While there, I started an international, bilingual K-12 program whose learning environment focused on character development, personal and academic preparation that would allow students to be internationally competitive. Returning to the states, I fell in love with the world of alpacas, developed an on-going herd of 70, running a fashion and transport line related to the industry.
An educator at heart, I always come back to my love of teaching. I find clear goals, open communication and dynamic, interactive learning strategies that engage the student and provide sufficient practice, leads to success. I have taught all subjects in both preschool and elementary grades, middle/high school Spanish, served as a Preschool Director and as a full school (K-12) Administrator. With a second major in Special Education, I have tutored many students with IEP's and special needs. Being fluent in Spanish has allowed me to effectively teach ESL to transient students as well as Spanish to home schoolers and interested adults.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a 1977 Bowling Green State University graduate with majors in both Elementary Education (K-8) and Special Education. In 1989, I received my Masters in Education degree from the same university specializing in educational administration.
My teaching and administrative experience includes 30 years within a highly successful and academically competitive school in South America that followed the International Baccalaureate system. I have taught all subjects at the elementary level, as well as Spanish in elementary, middle and high school. Most recently I tutored at risk students in an area elementary, EEL students adapting to the US for the first time and several Home schoolers.
