Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio (French and Diplomacy)
Hi! My name is Holly, and I am currently a student at Wittenberg University. For the last two years, I have been a paid French tutor in the language department of the university for fellow students, adults, and the occasional highschooler. I'm very fun loving, with a passion for Learning, and I love it when I have made a difference in anothers educational experience! I also have experience with children, as I have helped a family with a 3 and 4 year old at the basics of reading and writing. Teaching is harder than most people think, and each student deserves a teacher that understands how to get each individual child/student to learn, not just for a good test score, but for a healthy mind!
I have been tutoring foreign language as my specialty and am certified by Wittenberg University to do so. I have undergone extensive training in the area, as it is something that most people struggle immensely with. It is a great feeling to be able to sit down with a student at the end of the term and see their smile as they are able to carry out a conversation in a second langauge!
As an Advanced student of foreign language, my English skills have been sharpened as well, as one cannot understand a second or third language without knowing their first langauge in and out. I have ended up teaching just as much English as I have French. Also, with the family that I worked with a 3 and 4 year old I helped them with their English reading and writing at a elememtary level.
Being a student of the Clarinet myself for 11 years, I have tutored many elementary and middle school students in the Clarinet at a local high school in my hometown.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been a student of the clarinet myself for 11 years. I have given tutoring lessons to both elementary and middle schoolers at Marcus Whitman School in New York. I also won the NY State field band championships in 2012. I have taken and given lessons on how to teach instrumentals.
