If you would like to work with a patient tutor, a tutor who has the heart of a teacher, and a tutor who knows and enjoys what he is doing, then look no further. I am the kind of tutor you are looking for. I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics, and several graduate degrees (including a Ph.D.) in mathematics and mathematics education. I have 10+ years of tutoring experience at the college level. I have also tutored high school students. I have experience tutoring the following college courses: precalculus, applied calculus, business calculus (calculus for business majors), life science calculus (calculus for biology or pre-med students), engineering calculus (traditional/regular calculus), college algebra, and statistics (college statistics). I am also interested in tutoring AP statistics (high school statistics), AP calculus (high school calculus), and algebra I & II (high school algebra).
My approach to tutoring takes the form of explaining mathematical and statistical concepts (e.g., the derivative in calculus, a sampling distribution in statistics, etc.), followed by several examples illustrating how to use these concepts to solve application problems. Typically, most of the time in my tutoring sessions is spent on working and explaining examples, something I believe and have found to be helpful in learning mathematics/statistics. Hence, my tutoring motto is: The only way to learn mathematics/statistics is to do mathematics/statistics. My goal in tutoring is to benefit the students I work with as much as possible. Consequently, I welcome suggestions that students or parents can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
