In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a highly qualified aide currently working within the public school. I understand that ADD and ADHD kids may have the need to get up and move around to get the wiggles out. Each child learns differently and these kids may need to have more auditory learning and fewer worksheets and busywork depending on the age of the child.

As a highly qualified aide I have been pulled from my regular assigned classroom to work in the special needs class. I also have students that join my regular classroom from the special needs class. It is my responsibility to find appropriate activities for these students that mirror what the rest of the class is working on, yet keeping within their personal abilities.
