In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I studied art at the Zanesville Art Center beginning age 8 and continued for 9 years. I taught classical drawing at the Zanesville Art Center ages 5-95 and in Germany and South Carolina. I can offer a reference letter regarding my teaching and work.
I have studied and worked in the art/painting field for many years. Completing watercolors, acrylics, oils, colored pencil and oil pastel paintings, some of which were submitted and accepted for juried exhibitions. Learners will be educated in equipment, techniques, methods of applying materials and latest procedures. Students will be encouraged to use the library to analyze past/current artists in reference books and art magazines to continually educate themselves and improve their knowledge base in the fields of art. You cannot ever say you have learned all there is, for the field of art has no end. According to Scientific American magazine, THE MIND, studying and working in art will connect many parts of the mind to help it work more efficiently. Besides, it's fun and relaxing. Being creative brings a sense of pleasure and accomplishment to the beginning artist which will enhance their life.
