University of Cincinnati (Chemistry)
Hello, My name is Will. I am a third year B.S. Chemistry Student at the University of Cincinnati. I have Teachers Assistance experience in General Chemistry 1 and 2. I will be in the Cleveland area for the summer and have time to work and help students. I am available this summer but unfortunately I will be traveling back to the University of Cincinnati in August. I am open to online for tutoring if you wish.
I enjoy teaching for simple reasons. Foremost, I enjoy watching students progress and making tangible strides to their goals. Secondly, these are subjects that I have personally enjoyed, and I wish for others to enjoy the classes as enjoyed them. When true understanding happens a student can apply the logic and methods to other subjects so want I hope to accomplish is to not simply help you with Chemistry, biology, or physics. I want to help give students the necessary tools to succeed in an academic environment.
As for my grades in college courses I have received an A- or above in Biology 1 and 2, General Chemistry 1 and 2, and Organic Chemistry 1. I have earned a B+ in Organic Chemistry 2 and Physics 1. I am currently taking Biochemistry online this summer so that information will be fresh. Finally, I scored a 32 on the ACT science section.
I have a very open schedule right now but I plan on being quite busy this summer. I am the right most man in the photo. Hello, My name is Will. I am a third year B.S. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taken Advantage Placement American History as a senior in High School. I am a firm believer of the reading, highlighting, and making flash cards out of highlighted material, as the most effective way to gain a comprehensive understanding of history. While I have little formal tutoring in the subject matter, I have been a student of history my whole life and i find the characters and actions of the past fascinating.
In high school I completed Honors Chemistry and AP Chemistry as well as all the required courses for a B.S. Chemistry Major thus far. And Geometry was one of my favorite math class in high school. I understand that it is fundamentally different than other types of mathematics and that can trip up students.
I thoroughly enjoyed Organic Chemistry one and two. While it was one of most challenging college course I have taken I found extremely fulfilling when I grasped each concept. I have 2 semesters experience being a Teacher's Assistant in General Chemistry 1 and 2. I feel like I can apply what I have learned as a TA in Gen. Chem as a tutor of Organic Chemistry. My teaching style relies on understanding of concepts rather than mere memorization and the religious use of flashcards.
I have played soccer all my life. My first broken bone came in kindergarten from playing soccer. I have a long and strong relationship with the "most beautiful game". I coached pee-wee soccer with my mother for a number of years. I was captain of my club team, The Cleveland Whitecaps, when we were nationally ranked. I played for Saint Edward High School my Freshman and Sophomore year.
I love the water and I have been swimming all my life, recreationally and competitively. I was on a club swim team for 7 years growing up. And I was a lifeguard for the past two summers ensuring water safety in addition to teaching swimming from ages 5 to 15.
