I am retired after 31 years working in 18 countries on five continents.
Now I am teaching part-time at two colleges. I have considerable experience tutoring, teaching an ACT prep class for both math and science, and coaching students in passing the GMAT. Also, I joined Mensa when I was a senior in college and I have coached several potential Mensa applicants. I am adept in Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic. I believe I am an extremely enthusiastic instructor, and I love working with virtually everyone. I am retired after 31 years working in 18 countries on five continents.

Art has been great. My daughter felt very comfortable with him. She was taking AP Stats and struggling for the first time in school. She was afraid to ask questions in class and it negatively affected her until Art entered our lives. Her confidence returned. He was never late, always responded respectfully and on time. He kept it drama free for our lives. Kyra thank you so much and we also thank you. I highly recommend Art.
I really appreciate Art's help with a difficult class, Intro to Stats. He is a great combination of thorough, clear and patient. He goes over the underlying concepts as well as the actual problems in clear, step by step detail.
First lesson with Art was very informative and Art was very helpful in finding time in his schedule so quickly for my son. Look forward to more tutoring with Art. Thanks Art.
I talked to CJ after he session and he said it was very good. Art explained the problem then made CJ explain it to him. If he messed a step. They redid a different problem until he got it right. I think is the best way for CJ to learn and remember. Thanks Art!!
Thank you. I look forward to working with CJ.
It was our first lesson. He taught geometry. Art was very helpful. He was able to explain my child the concept. We have scheduled our next lesson. Thank you
Art made an impact immediately with my son. His teaching style resonated with him and I am confident we are on the right path toward improved grades in Algebra 2!
My daughter had her first session with Art and was very pleased with how it went! We look forward to more sessions with him.
Art was very patient with our student, who is new to the ACT and struggles with some concepts. He never made our student feel like he was behind or should have known certain things, but rather focused positively on strategies to improve.
Highly Recommended! Extremely knowledgeable in math and science, and knows how to explain formulating equations to allow students to understand and obtain correct results.
My granddaughter met with Art today to review algebraic concepts. She found him kind & helpful. He was both professional & courteous to both of us. I like that my granddaughter felt comfortable working with him & I look forward to using him now, & in the future, for her advanced math & science concepts.
Knew exactly what I needed to know for stats class and taught it in an understandable manner. Helped with Excel program as well.
Art helped me review many foundations of math that I had forgotten. He worked a problem until I understood it and helped me understand problems in the easiest way. I can work some word problems in half the time now!! It was a pleasure and hope to work with Art in the future!
Art was amazing. He made things so much easier and I was able to pass my stats class. Thanks Art.
Art is extremely knowledgeable, a great teacher, and gets right down to business. I am surviving statistics because of him!
My son has been with Mr. L. for about a year. He helped him make sense of his Algebra 2 last year. Taking him up to an A by the end of the year. This year he continues to work with him on Algebra 3 and ACT prep. I love that he is always on time, professional and is willing to fit my son in when his athletic schedule gets hectic. 5 stars and more!
I had a great session with Art. He explained things in a way I understood, as well as showing me multiple ways to complete everything. Highly recommended.
its wonderful to hear my daughter when she finally understands something about Algebra! Art is always patient, no matter how bad her attitude is.
Art kept my son engaged for the entire lesson. My son was very happy with the way Art explained the Calculus concepts. He said that Art has a great way of explaining the concepts to him in a way that makes it easy to understand.
He arrived on time and was very knowledgeable about the information. Art is a wonderful tutor and I am looking forward to many meetings with him. I was really having issues with math going back to college. He is helping me remember the process. Very intelligent man. Thanks Art.
Art was wonderful to work with. Helped sons with Algebra. He is a great communicator and listener. Very happy we found him.
Art has been helping me study for my ACT. I have learned a lot from working with art and appreciate his help.
As a high school teacher myself, I recommend Art. He is very flexible helpful and has really helped my daughter turn her geometry world around.
Art has been great to work with. He is flexible on his scheduling even accommodating last minute changes in the middle of baseball season. My son enjoys working with him and his style if very patient and positive. Thank you, Art!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a B.S. in Physics and Math, and an M.S. in Statistics.
I teach part-time at a four-year college and at a career college.
I have tutored for over fifty years since high school.
I joined Mensa 49 years ago while in college, and I routinely score in the 99th percentile when taking standardized math and IQ tests.
During my senior year in high school, I was part of a program to train one student and one teacher from every Toledo local high school at the University of Toledo. At that time I learned Fortran II D, and subsequently prepared a science project, which when presented at the state level, I received the highest score possible.
During my four years at the University of Toledo, I passed with A’s the only three computer science courses offered at that time (1964-1968). Also, during my senior year at Toledo I worked part-time as a computer operator of the only university computer.
Upon my college graduation, I was hired as a computer programmer, which I worked for two years before being promoted to a data center operations supervisor.
I then started my Master’s degree, culminating with a Master of Science degree from Rutgers with a major in Statistics, including several computer science courses.
Since then I have taught computer science related courses at four colleges.
I am proficient in the following computer languages: FORTRAN, COBOL, IBM 360 JCL, PL/I, Pascal, C and C++, UNIX, Basic, Python, Java, SPSS, SAS, Minitab, Microsoft Excel, and others.
