Hi Students! My name is Dr. William C., and I am an organic chemistry college professor at the University of Dayton. I have taught Organic Chemistry 1 and 2 lecture and labs for the past six years at Eastern New Mexico University. I received high marks on my student evaluations there. In addition, I have taught organic chemistry graduate level courses there. Most recently, I have taught Organic Chemistry Lab 1 and 2 at Kenyon College and 2 at Otterbein University. In addition, to teaching organic chemistry, I taught general chemistry 1 and 2 lecture and labs at Coastal Carolina University for five years. Interestingly, my background and training are in biochemistry. My postdoctoral and doctoral training are in enzyme kinetics. So you can see, I love teaching chemistry, almost any type of chemistry!!!
I love the subject, chemistry, and I love explaining it to others. What makes me a good teacher is that I can teach what is completely abstract and make it concrete. If a student does not understand my explanation, then I try another way. By coming to my office hours, I have improved students' grades by one letter. I am a good explainer as well as listener.
Chemistry is a very difficult subject. If it is explained clearly and made simple, it can then be understood. I can explain concepts and principles clearly and made them tangible and would like to have the opportunity to tutor you. However, you have to do your part too by practicing problems! Let's give it a shot!
