I was a mechanical engineering student for 2 years before changing my degree program to elementary education. I have taken math classes through Calculus 1. While I was a student at Wright State, I was a Math 102 proctor teaching Elementary Algebra. I have tutored several people in algebra as well as other types of math including for passing proficiency tests and to pass the GED exam. I have a love for math and helping unlock it's understanding for others.

I have been teaching for 16 years as an elementary teacher, but have been helping others understand math better since I was 12. I have been told by past students that I have a special gift of taking mathematical information and explaining it in a way that makes it easier to understand and not overwhelming.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught algebra 1 at Wright state University when I was a student there. I have extensive knowledge and experience in teaching algebra 1. I have helped former students of mine who have moved onto high school read their assigned summer reading books, but not comfortable teaching a structured lesson in reading.
