stark state college (Electrical Engineer)
"People who have failed are not failures." Every student, including myself, has failed a test at some point during their student careers. Fortunately, I have been able to limit my failures and have grown to be a successful student. I may not have "professional" tutoring skills, but I have led plenty of study sessions resulting in a successful grade. My goal, as a tutor, is to supply the tools for my learner to use effectively. I do not promote mediocrity; therefore, I will do everything in my power to support my student.
I graduated from Perry High School with college credits in Math, English and History. By taking the following courses: Pre-Calculus (Earned an A), College Algebra (Earned a B+) and College Trigonometry (Earned an A-) I have been able to enhance my math skills quickly and efficiently. I have completed both Calculus I and Calculus II courses and I am currently enrolled in Calculus III.
Math is just a puzzle. The more you practice, the more you will see patterns and become confident when Test Day comes. The world is running on technology. The minute you stop enhancing your Math skills, you will be held back from your true potential.
Also, if you are considering Engineering or any other science, math is accumulative. Each chapter you learn will reappear later down the road; therefore, mastering previous Math classes is imperative to be successful in these areas. "People who have failed are not failures." If you need my assistance right away but can not afford the tutoring, I will be happy to work with you. I would rather see success than an extra $40.00.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have thorough knowledge of the following parts of Algebra I: functions, proportions, implicit formulas, graphing, system of equations and many more applications that will be introduced in the class. From personal experience, every section is important. Math is a highly accumulative subject; therefore, mastering every section is imperative to success.
Algebra II is a very critical course for anyone looking to advance in mathematics. I currently use matrices, system of equations, imaginary numbers, logarithms and many more elements from this course. By learning the applications of these elements in Physics With Calculus and all of my Calculus courses, I will even be able to explain how these elements are applied in everyday science.
Math is not all about the numbers, when a student realizes this, the subject is a lot more interesting.
