I am attending Kent State University to become a teacher! I will graduate in 2017 with my BA in Middle Childhood Education grades 4-9 to specialize in Math and Language Arts. I have been tutoring students for 10 years now since I started tutoring other students in grade school in Math and Language Arts. I even tutor my 7 year old brother in my free time. I love volunteering at local schools and helping students learn. It is my mission to help as many students to use their knowledge and skills to become the best students they can be. At college, we take time during the semester to visit local schools to gain more experience with students. I think this experience has helped me become the tutor I am today. I think patience and having a passion for the subjects is what really lets me connect with students.

I have been studying math throughout college completing up to Calc 2. I love helping others discover a love for math since many people fear it. I love helping to breakdown simple skills and steps to help students learn to love math.

I have had a love for English since 4th grade. I knew that English (and Math) would be a subject I would love to help others with. I have been able to study English in more depth throughout college and help many more students. After letting students read books that I know they love, for example a sports book or Harry Potter, students began to love reading, their vocabulary skills improved and they did better on standardized tests.

I love to let students make their own guesses and express their own thoughts when first looking at a problem. Then we take time to analyze the problem that the student is having a hard time with. This promotes the student to problem solve and gain knowledge. This is a better way to help students learn instead of just telling them the answers. Students need to learn how to figure out any difficulties because if they are just fed information this will not help them later on in life. This is a strategy we use in college to help students with their own discovery in their learning.
